Hi all,

Been working a couple weeks on a quad of 250s. I'll have more pics to add in a few days, but here are a few of the most recent:

I have a ton more pics and a vid or two. I think there are some jigs that some of the auth builders might benefit from seeing.

Love it!
I wish i was building 4 of the 250's instead of the 200's, but my pack space is limited :chainsaw:

Amazing jigs and a very nice build! Wish I had the workspace to build some of these... and the time

Nice thread, keep the pics coming. I am looking forward to seeing more here. Are you going to build some subs too?

Don't be sorry. After building DR250's for a ministry team I am glad I am building 200's for myself. Looking at the specs it does not seem like there is a big difference but seeing them side by side is another story. If you use subs the advantage of the 250 is negated. My choice was for 6 DR200's rather then 4 DR250's, with another pair planned for in the future. This allows more flexibility and a taller array. IMHO if a need arises that 6 or 8 DR200's will not cover then I should have at least DR280's anyway. If that ever happens I will build a bigger rig for those events. For day to day use I don't think you can top the 200's for output and flexibility verses pack space.

I agree with your other conclusions for the most part, but I'll contest this one.

It depends on the subs you're using, and it depends on where you like to crossover to the subs. I specifically chose the 250s because I can run the crossover lower. There are definite times when I wish I had the 200s, because then I'd be able to fit them in the back seat of my car, but the 250s work better with my subs and my preferences.

For sealed DR's the 250 plan states 125Hz and the 200 135Hz. If the DR200 is ported a lower crossover is possible but if you must cross over at 100Hz for your subs then yes the 250 would have the advantage. I overlooked that point in the statement that I made.

My use is in churches and other religious events. These places typically have bad acoustics so I will gladly trade a higher crossover point for a taller array. For subs I am about to start T39's. From the spl charts it looks like I will have to tame the rising response of the sub a little and maybe select a little lower crossover point for the sub then the DR. It will require some playing around to fine tune the system.

I dont know much about any of these cabs but the advantage in DR250'S over DR 200's may also be how low they can be tuned without a sub.I havent used my DR's alone because i like bass,i don't like using a weak sounding system for any event,i love the bass but i have played all 4 of them in my basement with the bass ports in hi passed at 45 hz and they sounded pretty good. But much better with T48's :noob:
