I bought my first two OT12s this time last year to go with the T39s I built. Well, it's time to build a pair.

I'm going to give the piezos a try this time.....still a little leery, but I've heard enough from you guys using them for live music that I'm ready to give it a go.

Starting with 5 sheets of 5x5 baltic birch ($22/sheet in San Antonio). 5 sheets? Yep, I'm building 3 WH10s when the OTops are done. Thanks to the heads-up from Leland about the speaker prices, I was able to buy the 2512s and 2510s at the old price. Got the panels all cut. Headed out now to finish the baffles.

Here's how I made the phase plugs round.... If I'd known how time consuming the baffles were, I might have bought 'em from Leland.

Whiners. I spent 8hrs yesterday cutting and gluing piezos. Let the soldering begin.

Started putting 'em together today...

Painted the baffles first and decided it would be a pain to put the phase plug extensions later as well as the spacer ring..

Been bothered about how to get a tophat in the cab with the reflectors.....old style wasn't a problem, but this is going to protrude through the reflector.

So, I went ahead and cut the hole in the bottom panel. Then I cut the reflector panel for the tophat. Took some trial and error to get the first one right. Second one went real quick when I figured out just what the shape should be. The oscillating sander made quick work of ploughing out the backside.

Here's how far I got today.....should have both of them finished as far as the boxes tomorrow.....then comes speakers, crossover, paint.......

Looking good. I like how you put the screen on the baffle. I just cut my baffle last night and I've been thinking about attaching the metal grille - the stucco lathing. I'm going to use a full grille, so I know it isn't necessary, but I thought that it wouldn't hurt. I can remove the full grille later, but I can't go back and attach the lathing. I want to have the option there, just in case.

What you did with the screen, though, gives me the option of having extra protection there for later if I decide to not go with the full grille or if I decide to remove it, but also saves me the trouble of having to search our stucco lathing here in Saudi Arabia and then also of having to make the adjustments in my cutting and such.

The screen on the baffle is the pet screen that Leland puts in the kits. Just cut it with scissors. I put it on after the braces. I didn't want to braces to sit on it and I didn't want to compensate for the height. So I just cut a little slot in each side of the screen for the braces and used staples to stretch it tight.

Here's a closer look at how it's attached....

I had some screen in a cab I built, different model, but it was in a somewhat similar position. Turned out the moving air made it slap against the wood, in your case where the phase plug sits. That made my cab sound nasty. You may want to add some extra staples around all openings in the baffle to prevent it from hitting into the wood. YMMV, my screen was not as solid as pet screen (which is not available here).
