Hey all

My sister in law is writing a grant request for a department of her school for solar panels. She needs to know what the power requirements of a basic sound system is. This would be for occasional singer songwriter support and music playback in a small amphitheater. I know this is really vague and not much info but you know what I know.

Can anyone give me a range of current draw for a real basic sound system?

Doesnt need to be spot on. Just a range so she can figure that into her request.

Thanks

Benj

It should be able to power a standard wall outlet, 110v, 20a.

Or a big battery and not much usage per week. Better things to spend money on surely.

my behringer 802 mixer draws 13w driving that amp to clip all that with recorded music

It would be very wrong to assume that someone won't plug something into this outlet that they shouldn't. IMO it's only prudent to have enough capacity for what might end up in there. For example:

Now wait just one minute...I think it is totally out of line to think that a college student would be dumb enough to overload some sensitive peice of equipment. Don't they call it higher learning? We are talking about the refined educated young adults that we going to entrust out future to. Let's keep it real people.......
:fruit: :noob: :fruit: :noob: :slap: :noob: :fruit: :noob: :fruit:

On another note. I will be getting more details about it's use and implementation later. She can decide how much of a buffer she wants to reach for.

Thanks for the replies,
Benj

The humor is there, but there's a certain amount of truth in that statement.
