Hey.

In the process of building my first cabinet ever. One of two omnitop 15's we will be using as the PA tops in my band along with a tuba.

Here are some pictures after a long day one. (I got too excited at how damned well everything fit together, then got kind of manic and couldn't stop.)

Going to replace the multipurpose screws with something more presentawble and hope to have everything wired and fired up tomorrow.

Have a buddy doing a fine job on the wiring...

Very nice. What's the aluminum edging?

It's a piece of 1/2" angled aluminum about 1/16" thick. Picked it up from the hardware store by their sheet metal, metal rods etc.

I cut it to length, sanded it with 80 grit paper with an electric hand sander and rattle can clear coated it. It kind of looks like it has been machine turned.

Just a question. Why didn't you go for the melded array?

Well, kind of. :) I cut the wood and glued the structure togther Friday past midnight and let the adhesive set up until Sat. All in all it took a good couple days.

This was just try 1. I have the tweerters for the melded array but I just wanted to get something up and running quick this weekend.

I have some powder coated grill material from PE in the mail and am planning on adding the melded array next weekend.

You need squared edge corners to match the aluminum. Penn-Elcom makes them.

I totally agree. I was shopping around last night for something that would work better on a flat edge. Thanks for the lead! I will post the finished pics when I get those on.

Thanks.

Reality check: Power and driver excursion demands go up as frequency goes down. The total size of the subs should be twice that of the tops, minimum.

Thanks for the info. Rookie question here... by "size", do you mean the surface are of the drivers?

Thanks!

The cabinet. With two OTop 15s you need at least two T48s to have a balanced system. By the same token if two T48s are more subs than you need then two OTop 15s are more tops than you need.
