Alesis Audiopro 1212 desk - some advice on monitors please

Our 5 piece group runs an Alesis Audiopro 1212 desk - Drums, keys, bass, guitar and 4 vocal mics.

We need 3 monitor systems, but the desk has only 2 that are fully mixable from what I can make out.

Here's what has been suggested to me to overcome the problem. You have to assume that bass and guitar will have small speakers on stage for own monitoring.

The drummer gets the in-ear and the keyboardist gets monitor two.

It's what we need to do to get monitor 3 and 4 mixable signal to the singer, guitarist and me that's the burning question.

It has been suggested that the "auxilliary" be either the EFFX sends one or two.

Does anyone have any experience with this desk and/or can point me in the right direction as to either how I configure it or what else I could buy to make mixing for 3 & 4 much easier.

Many thanks

I went and looked up the manual. There were no pictures of the output section, but based on the descriptions - what you propose will work just fine. A send is a send regardless of whether its called monitor or aux. You would probably want to use the FX 2 output as the manual says that FX 1 is hardwired in the board....so, I'm assuming that there is only an FX2 output...don't know.

But, everything you propose will work. Of course, the graphic EQ only works for monitor 1. And monitor 1 is pre EQ (or post, I don't remember) and monitor 2 is the opposite. So, it would be prudent to get at least a little dual 15 band EQ for the two sends that don't have the graphic available to control feedback.

The copywrite on that manual was 1993.....time for a new board? With a few more auxes?

However, as the founding member and president of the "Cheap Bastard Society" I salute you and would like to offer you a lifetime membership.....free, of course.

Well, yes it would be nice to have a new desk, but I need to put the funds toward more speakers and amps really.

Plus, being a 6th generation Kiwi from a line of "No 8 wire mentality males", chucking out something that's remotely likely to work is as unthinkable as using JBL tops in my band

Anyhow, thanks for looking that stuff up for me. I have the manual and it has some diagrammes, but not many.
