Hi, I'm contemplating one of the full BFD (tops and subs) kits from speakerhardware.com with the digmoda plate amps. I'm curious however. For instance, they have the OTops + Tuba packages and they have the Tubas by themselves without the tops, but they don't have a powered top only package. Is this because the amp goes in the sub which has a HPF speaker cable out to the top which is actually a passive meaning they don't have a powered OTop in this kit? I'm also a little concerned about using the digmoda plate amp. I don't know anything about their reputation. Should I direct these questions to speakerhardware.com?

You might check this thread by Leland, who is SpeakerHardware.com.

He used some of the amps you're asking about in some speakers recently.

I assume no powered top option is offered becase the amps (which are tri amp systems, built into 1 package) have either been built to support subs and sats, or, sacrifice the sat amplifier to have just a sub combo. Its just not economical to produce a top only set I suppose.

Well, it's not very complicated really. I just haven't gotten it done. It takes a different amp than the ones I have listed on the site. They're sub amps at 1000w, and a combo sub 1000w with 500w stereo. Funding and what I thought would sell first dictated what I bought for stock and these are the first. I was/am waiting to see what kind of response I got before committing any more to it.

The amp for dedicated tops would be the DDC550, which is a 500w per side amp. On their literature it says one side lf, the other hf. Both amps are identical, so it can be run for tops. I can special order it.

Digmoda is a division of http://www.kscind.com/. They are big players in the OEM world, supplying stuff for a very long time to the industry. This is their first foray into direct to market I believe.
