Hry Guyes,

I need a small mixer for home use. Maybe an occasional garage jam mostly for vocals.
Not Trying to start any "this company sucks" threads. This is the price range I need.
Some of the things I wanted are sliders not knobs on each mic section. Do not care
about the board haveing main eq or effects. I would like to rack mount (some models
include them).

These are the ones I am looking at, any input.

Might help for us to understand how you plan to set up the components.

Are you using a separate amp or do you expect the mixer to have a power amp?

What speakers do you have for PA? Are you building some BFM models? Which ones?

What are your inputs? Mic's...outputs from small amps?

I've run a 24ch MG for over a year for the traveling system for the church I work for and just bought the 16ch rack-mount version for my band. Lots of headroom, good EQ, and the on-board FX are pretty good (I know you don't care about that - but get it anyway. Vocals sound a lot better with a little delay or reverb on 'em).

I have the MG24 and MG32. Solid construction, good pres. Have had zero problems with either of them and they are not a fixed install.

It has 12 Mic inputs plus jacks for keys etc.

I have been using it for a couple of years now. Absolutely no problems. One interesting point - The faders and knobs for each channel are on separate circuit boards, and each knobs is screwed to the chassis. That makes them sturdier than e.g. the Yamaha . The sound quality is also very satisfying.

I run a yamaha 12ch mg. Great little board. Easy, sounds good, reliable.

Same, Yamaha here for the last 3-4 years as a mobile DJ. Stay away, far away, from the Behringer.

I've had three Behringer mixers in the past and not had any issues that weren't my own fault. Having said that, I have also switched to Yamaha. I am now using a 01v.

Your experience is pretty rare. I've had three Behringer devices - BCD, 1832FX, and VMX1000 - and I will never buy another Behringer product again. They're throwaway devices for people on extremely small budgets.

I'm sure lots of people had fine experiences with Yugos, too.

Well, you have to search for the gems (ie, ep amps, the discontinued rack reverb, and the x8500 mic) ]

But yeah, most of their stuff is crap.

and another +1 on the yamaha. They give you ridiculous gain before feedback(well, if you know what you're doing in the first place) all the stuff you need without all the crap you don't, and dependable. I've worked with a few behringer mixer and would not buy one (well, unless it was to replace my powered mixer, heck, i might even buy two more once I start renting out stuff)

Gotta +1 the Yamaha stuff. I prefer it to any other analog (of course, everybody knows what I really prefer, but that's outside the scope of the discussion. I really like the MG206, as it has 16 mic pres, 8 compressors, and a decent FX unit, and can be had under $500 at NSL or Full Compass.

I had a Behringer mixer crap out on me sitting unused in a box. My experience has been that their mics, amps and processing gear are all fairly reliable and sound good, but that their mixers and guitar equipment are quite poorly constucted and subject to failure. That said, I do have a little four channel jobbie that has worked quite nicely as a headphone amp with little failure, and I had two of their Shark DSPs fail after a few years of continuous usage, but all in all the rule has held.

If you only need the little 10 channel one... $49 pretty hard to beat for cheap.
