Hey all.
This might be of interest to some of you DIYers out there.

Just out of curiosity, I was looking around from some DIY options for solid state amps.
There is a design here for a 500 watt solid state subwoofer amp that seems very tempting. My only issue is assembling the PSU, which is dealing with mains power.
Tempting, but I don't feel like being a Thanksgiving Turkey.

Australian as well, interesting.
How many T36s can the 1.5KW amp push?

I have no idea. But, considering that all of the designs are just the amps and nothing else, I think you would have to find other schematics to add alongside these, such as gain attenuation, thermal protection, etc.

Maybe for home use, but I'm not sure about pro use without such features.
I'm still looking around for such plans and will post what I find in this thread.

Please do!
An all DIY system would be very cool to accomplish!

If you look further round the ESP site you will find plans for all sorts of audio projects, Pre-amps, power supplies, x-overs, mixers etc. Most of it is aimed at the DIY Hi-fi enthusiast but there is a lot of use for pro-audio work as well. There are also a bundle of very useful articles - including guidance on wiring power supplies. You can also try this book, 'The Audiophile's Project Sourcebook' by G. Randy Slone. Although aimed primarily at Hi-fi enthuiasts, it has some very useful protection circuit ideas for pro use.
