Make you read my post about the testing I did on the tripod stand. It works great with one cab per stand. Two works great if the bottom one is angled downward. I haven't tried it yet, but I anticipate having problems with two per stand if the bottom one is facing straight out.

The solution to your top-hat dilemma is to get two fixed hats from Leland and mount them in the other two cabs at the balance point. Then you put those on the bottom when stacking straight.

Have you tried fitting them in and had problems, or are you just worried because you read that I had problems? If you haven't tried it yet, you may not have any trouble. I had to do some tweaking on three of the four, but the fourth fit with no problem due to small variations in the splay angle of the cabs.
What I ended up doing was trimming a tiny bit off the end of the finished arrays with the table saw at a 3 or 4 degree angle so that the top and bottom of the array matched the angle of the top and bottom panels of the cab. It's hard to explain, but if you can confirm that you're having trouble with your arrays being too tall, I'll try to draw a picture to help me explain it better.

You're right, it's pre-emptive. I held two together that had the lugs facing out and couldn't see how they would fit, since the lugs were about as wide as the edge of the piezo. I'll have to wait and see when I get the array glued up.

There are two different issues here. One is whether or not the backs of the arrays are too wide to fit into the space between the supports. The other is whether the arrays are too tall to fit between the top and bottom panels. My problem was the overall height of the arrays. What I did to prevent the width from being an issue was to rotate the elements where the lugs were facing out. Take a look at the pic below to see what I mean...

yea , I had the same problems with the melded array and I ended up alternating the piezos screw slots 2-1-2-1 like you did. I found it worked quite nice and only had to grind down 2 of the screw slots to make everything fit. definitely try to make a perfect melded array jig as mine was off ever so slightly, but luckily staggering the screw slots saved me lots of time and a reorder of piezos..
