Unfortunately, there's only two spots on either side of the stage that they can reasonably go without being in the way or being too close to the audience. They sounded great in the middle left corner, but the bass was completely overpowering compared to the rest of the mix for part of that section. It's one of those situations where we have to make the best of what we have.

Just curious about your cost per Omni and T39. What did you load them with and can you include the cost of the hardware kits and Duratex. Trying to get a handle on the cost of a build of my own.

I'll chime in here since I built OT12s and T39s also. Both the tops and subs came in at around $700 a pair. Speakers were a little less expensive when I built though. That includes all the plywood, corners, duratex, wheels, etc......

So, I'd say you could build two of each for $1500 using the premium speakers....maybe less if you go with the Labs on the T39s.

^Thanks Bruce. :cowboy:

If it helps, here's a screenshot from part of the quote that we submitted for our church. The prices on everything have probably changed since then, so check http://speakerhardware.com (where I bought everything from) to get the most up do date pricing.

We ended up using 8 sheets of plywood overall at about $29/sheet and Duratex was $52.50/gallon. OmniTops were loaded with 3012HO's and melded arrays while the T39's had Lab 12's.

Yep, the 3012HOs add quite a bit when it's times 4. You should be able to do all that with one gallon of duratex. I did 2 T39s, 4 OT12s, and 2 wedgehorns before I ran out of the first gallon.

That a whole lot of tops for those 2 Titans.....my 4 OTs with 2512s outrun my Titans pretty easily. You might consider going to the 2512s to give you quite a cushion on price.....and they will still be very loud....as in, I just did a Pink Floyd tribute band outdoors in a somewhat secluded area and had the cops called twice. Way more than a church can handle.....

We're currently waiting for the approval to build two more T39's for that reason. Two just isn't enough for what we're using them for.

Bruce and Shawn...thanks for the replies. That gives me a realistic idea of cost for the build. Just one last requested power amp question. If I were to go with 2 OT's and 2 T39's, as far as Crown power vs. other options. I'd think redundancy with two amps..one for the tops and one for the bottoms and in case of one dying during a gig still have one to power both seems like the logical approach....Please make any suggestions specific because my knowledge is limited.

I run my Titans on a single bridged Crown XLS1500. It doesn't clip and runs fine - of course, it's limited.

The 4 tops run on a Crown XLS2500 - two per side.

I would think that a 1500 would run your tops just fine on one per side. So my suggestion is 2 - 1500s. I doubt you'll ever want for power in a church with that configuration.

I'm sure others will offer suggestions - but, that's my two cents.

Bruce....your two cents is worth a thousand bucks. I was actually looking at the 1500 and price and power wise i think it makes a great deal of sense. It's not for a church but I still think it will more than do the job. I am replacing my bands PA and this will be a good start. I will probably just build 2 more tops and 2 more subs and run 4 and 4 as time and budget allow. Thanks again for the help.

Sorry, I was confused I guess on who was building for a church......

It's a great system for a band. I went with that same setup for a year, then built the extra pair of OT12s. I'm thinking real strong about building two more T39s.
