I wouldn't do that unless he replaced all of them.

With some support I am going to replace all of my Asd-1001 cds with f151m-8 cds. I am running active filters so adjusting to 1.2khz will be pretty easy. I am still going to experiment with dual loading cds per cab so more to follow.

Great build thread mate! Glad your alloy horns got the nod and worked out, those things are a pita in ply..

Just changing to the F151 will see an increase of 4.5dB in sensitivity from the driver, with minimal fuss, for the same cost as buying 2 ASD's, based on Eminence website current pricing...

Yep, I think 2 F151s per box would outrun the 12. Anyway, it would take a redesign of the horn to fit in there. I guess you could modify one desiged for the Jack....but, I don't think it would be worth it.

Bill is going to have a cow, but I did this to try out the idea. I am not worried about the highs out running the mids so much as maintaining as much fidelity as I can. Seeing as I have blown some of my high freq drivers I believe I should fortify that some.

What's your impression of the results? Anything one way or the other?

errr, did you change the filters? edit, forget that bit, i saw active management above after a re read.

Did they get wired in series or parallel?

I have done some basic testing with this dual driver setup. I am still running the Asd-1001 drivers at the moment. I have them wired in series. Output is about the same, double the displacement and the impedance makes sense to me.

I have been trying different crossover points despite what those drivers should be limited to.

How do they do preform? About the same eq needed as before. I can’t tell that there is any real dramatic negative effects with the dual configured horn. It all sounds the same to me from all angles.

I received my order for my new drivers today. Once I have had a chance to use them I’ll let you know my experience with them.

So much for claiming profit on the books this year. Oh well there is always next year.

I'm not sure the blade on my table saw would cope with those cuts and the PL just wouldn't hold :P

I did a thing! I found a part on aliexpress that is pretty close to the right form factor for the high frequency horn of my otop12 speakers.

https://m.aliexpress.us/item/325680191 ... _shipto=US

They are not perfect but they are close enough that I went ahead and bought a grip of them. The length per unit is 6 5/8” tall for 13 1/4” with two. They are an inch wider than the prescribed horn but they are only about a 1/4” taller. I paid $16 each for 16 units and that includes shipping.

I intend to set them up and do some testing soon after I sort out a way to mount them! I shall report my findings

Interesting. Do you have a way to measure and document the various results. You know me, I love numbers and data.

yeah, I have Room Wizard EQ. I would like to graph a hand full of situations.
-Single alum horn - ASD-1001 2k high pass
-Dual alum horn - ASD-1001 2k high pass
-Dual alum horn - ASD-1001 1.2k high pass
-Dual wood horn - ASD-1001 1.2k high pass
-Single alum horn - F151M-8 1.2k high pass
-Dual alum horn - F151M-8 1.2k high pass
-Dual wood horn - F151M-8 1.2 k high pass
-New plastic dual horn - Asd-1001 2k high pass
-New plastic dual horn - Asd-1001 1.2k high pass
-New plastic dual horn - F151M-8 1.2k high pass

It will take me a few days to coordinate this effort, but I am really curious to see what I get with these different configurations. I will put up a post about it.
