Thanks, I'm getting very close to finishing the first one and have already begun cutting pieces for the second. This was brand new territory for me and I like the results so far. I am glad that I'm doing a sequential rather than parallel build, hoping the second one will go much quicker with knowledge I gained from building the first.

Regarding knowledge gained from building the first, I'm having a hard time finding the measurement for spacing between back braces on my plans. I used the tape measure feature in my sketch-up model and saw that it's 8". Does that depend on the woofer, or more particularly the diameter of the magnet on the woofer? I hope this small mention of one particular dimension does not violate forum rules.

Page 13 in the plans will give you the info for the back braces. :)

Just even space them on the back panel.

Nice build also.

You definitely speed up... my first T30 took over a month to build, the 4th I had built in a few evenings. Based on that rate of speedup, I reckon I soon be building several of an evening!!

Yeah, I found that the spacing was missing from the plans also (as probably everyone has!). Just put them equally(ish) spaced along the back panel.... they are there for reinforcement, so just make sure they are roughly equally spaced along the back and they'll do their job quite happily. Make sure (with driver in hand), that you leave enough space for the driver magnet (and maybe half an inch of cooling space).
I forgot to install the braces on one of my Otops the first time I took them out :wall: I didn't notice any difference although there was probably a minimal one. You just want them there to reduce any panel vibrations/resonances that you may get at certain frequencies.

I appreciate the info and it helps me have a better understanding of how they function now, basically making the back panel more rigid. I had every intention of getting the first top functional yesterday evening and then it took me over an hour to make the 15 mile drive home from work in Austin traffic :cussing:

You know what they'd call that pace in Washington D.C.? Record time! :hyper:

Ha! I have heard this to be true. I'm just honestly irritated with the growth of Austin and the city's terrible approach to infrastructure but I know traffic is worse elsewhere. This is most likely the cause in many places but it seems like much of it in Austin comes from people driving like idiots.

At least I have an autotuba in the trunk providing some sweet bass on those long commutes 8)

Having to drive through Austin to see my daughter in Round Rock, I must disagree.......it's hard to drive like an idiot when you are only going 5MPH.

I'd rather drive to Houston than to fight IH35 through Austin nowadays.

That new toll road east of IH35 makes the drive a breeze. I got from San Marcos to Georgetown on a Friday afternoon in no time! Just have to make it to the Cabellas on 35 and then hop over to the toll road.

I heard the section of 35 going through Austin was designed by an Aggie with a crayon.

My wife takes the toll road sometime, but it is stupid expensive...still beats sitting in downtown Austin for an hour.

One down and I'm about 3/4 of the way through the second one. I'm pretty happy with how the first one has turned out. Rounding the edges was a piece of cake after reading about it on this forum, watching some youtube videos, and reading the instruction manual a couple of times to be sure to do it right. I think a router is my new favorite tool. I will probably get around to trimming the foam and painting the phase plug extension sometime

Drill out some more of the holes in the array and add more mounting screws. Advice from the been there done that. Looks good!
