Re: Another track saw option
I built a bitch bench and now I'm about 25% into my first build with the Festool track saw.
It makes things so easy it almost feels like I'm cheating!! Very impressed.
I have to sharpen my pencil twice as often because I need thinner lines to work to!! That's how awesome it is.
Also, you'd have to go out of your way to cut your fingers off with this saw. Waaaaaaaaaay safer.

That's good to hear! My kids seem to walk off with my sharp pencils...
I've got a question for 'ya- disregarding the track saw part of it, did the Grizzly seem to be okay quality? I've got a nice setup with my table saw (can cut full width 5x5 sheets) so I only use my circular saw for odd things (like the cutoffs of the subs). However, it doesn't have dust collection which is pretty irritating and plunge capability would be nice. Not enough justification right now to get a Festool....

It's possible to make up some plates to make a chute that a vac can hook up to. There are lots of plans and ideas on DIY table saw dust collection on the internet.Rick Lee wrote: I've got a nice setup with my table saw (can cut full width 5x5 sheets) so I only use my circular saw for odd things (like the cutoffs of the subs). I knew you would like that Festool saw, and hoped the Grizzly would be a cheaper alternative. My pencil gets sharpened regularly, just like you said. The Festool is just that accurate.

I store my pencil behind my ear while working in the shop. If I don't, I spend half the day looking for theRick Lee wrote:That's good to hear! My kids seem to walk off with my sharp pencils...

My kids are actually copying this - have seen them store a pencil on their ear while sitting at the table drawing.

A bench that is your bitch. You cut in to it all the time.JonoSkip wrote:Ian Westwood wrote:I built a bitch bench...did I miss something? WTF is that?
First task went rather well. This would have been impossible on my table saw.

First cut. Woooooooo

Going to make some legs at some point. Its just balancing on a couple of side tables for now.

It looked OK ish, but to be honest I didn't even fire it up so I can't really comment properly. It was kind of pointless even trying it.Rick Lee wrote:I've got a question for 'ya- disregarding the track saw part of it, did the Grizzly seem to be okay quality?
I'd put it somewhere slightly above Harbor Freight in terms of quality. i.e. You know it is going to be a bit shit but you can't resist the bargain.

Getting ready for the big jobs i see...
I wish i had a space that big to build. Would save a ton of time setting up for work and constantly moving around my stuff while sawing and assembly.

Life is just a game, don't take it to seriously!

One of the advantages of living in the desert. Loads of space!Bas Gooiker wrote:Getting ready for the big jobs i see...

Here's a cool thing.
T60 panel 2 is 41 3/4 inches long with 54 degree cut at one end. It would have been impossible on my table saw.

Took me 10 minutes. Ta-da!

Re: Another track saw option
Ian, did you put in the 'big' order of Festool stuff to become an authorized dealer? I am still wanting parallel guides if you have some.

Re: Another track saw option
No, sorry. I couldn't get enough interest drummed up to get anywhere near my first order amount.67baja wrote:Ian, did you put in the 'big' order of Festool stuff to become an authorized dealer? I am still wanting parallel guides if you have some.
Also, the terms and conditions are so tight and the margins so thin (on the track saw) that I didn't go for it. Of everything I sell, Festool would have been the most expensive and lowest margin item! Not worth it for me.
Re: Another track saw option
Yeah, I've got really nice dust collection on the table saw and the rest of the shop but not on the circular saw. That's why I was hoping this one would work.Tom Smit wrote:It's possible to make up some plates to make a chute that a vac can hook up to.
