Oh and one more thing, I have reconed 6 of the 8 3015lf's and although I havent tested all of them yet, the ones I have tested seem to work just fine...no voice coil rubbing and they are still round so id say were in good shape!! :noob:

Looking good tho Clint. Keep up the good work.

Would it really matter if I installed one or two 3/5 panel braces (24" cab)? Two dosent really seem necessary and is proving to be a complete pain in the ass :chainsaw: whereas one seems reasonable and much easier to install and PL. They really dont fit in their that will, i can make them fit but it requires a lot of clamping and screws. Versus when i just stick one in the middle of 3/5 it fits better and I can easily PL both sides.

IIRC in the plans it says something like "put in a brace for every 6 to 8 inches of width".

I put in two panel 3-5 braces in my 20" cabs, staggered/offset compared to the 5-8 braces. Yes it's a pain, but you can easily get 2 screws into each brace from the panel 5 side, and one in from the chamber side. And if you pre drill a hole lower down in the chamber, you can wind a screw in with a 1/4" drive ratchet by hand.
4 screws is plenty to let the PL do it's thing.

I'm sure you'd hate to put the final side on and discover vibrations in the cab due to lack of bracing!
It's almost impossible to fix after that final side is on, without pretty much pulling the cab to pieces...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

thanks for the feedback grant, i think your right. id be pissed if things were rattling after all that work. especially when there are eight cabs involved! that a lot of fixing!!

Well i stepped away from the project for a few hours and moved on to another cab and found that the issue is hopefully exclusive to just one box, not all eight, so im gonna go ahead with dual braces for the rest. I later went back to the initial cab that I had problems with and installed both braces. Theres about 1/8 to 1/4 fluctuation from the existing inner panel to the outter. you can tell in the pics below, its not much and i dont think ill worry about it. The issues is that evidently when i mounted panel three, it wasnt exactly on the trace-out line on the side panel.

Yep I understand! Looks fine. I don't think any of my 4 cabs are identical inside.

Is that an MLX, BLX or Export kit?

Ta, loves me Pearl gear
Looks like a late 80's model in arctic white
I have a mid 80's DX kit

I'm sure you know, but look after them there long lugs, they have a habit of snapping where the lug is that receives the screw to hold it on. And getting very hard to replace...

ok heres some more pics. youll notice in one that the 5/6 panel jointing is waaaayyyy off, about an inch :slap:

while what seems to be an inch long in the horizontal, this panel was an inch shy in the vertical position so i had to extend the panel vertically, this must have happened when i trimmed this 17 degree end after the rough cut. anyway the problems solved except i have an inch of overhang horizontally (see pic) everythings aligned its just the panels is a bit too long. Will this make a difference? I can try and trim it but im thinking leave it be. :feedback:

Please forgive me if I sound critical, it's not my intention. I'm curious to know why you would glue the panel in, when it's obvious it didn't line up with the layout lines drawn on the side according to the plans?

When I built mine, I dry fit each piece for fit and size before applying any glue.

It's much more difficult to trim to size now.

that's a good question. Panel was cut and installed before panel six was cut. When When III installed panel 5 all ways , little extra length but minnimal. The issueis that panel 6 was too long and i just installed it thinking it wouldnt matter. The throat distances and angles werent altered, just overhang. Basically i was in a hurry cause i left town this morning and i needed to get it done :wall:

If it overhangs a lot more than the others, you could chop off most of it with a jigsaw, then finish off with a freehand hacksaw blade (or hacksaw blade on a "tight space" holder). Tidy up with a sander...

yeah im gonna take it off. :chainsaw: Im gonna us this here deal: http://www.harborfreight.com/japanese-f ... 39273.html I should have trimmed it before but I was in a hurry and loaned my saws to the neighbor for what supposed to be a couple of hours, which turned into all day and a dull blade :cussing: and my air nailer went out in the middle of it all and HQ was all over my arse about packing......

otherwise I think the build is going pretty well, :fingers: everythings matching up well and fitting together nicely except this one issue which is square and airtight, just gotta little overhang :cop:

Sounds like a good plan :)

Sorry to hear you're trying to help someone out and they "abuse" it...
