There's something wrong with my AT..

It's got a rattling sound comming from it when I play it, and it's got no authority or extension...

Now I wonder, I've checked for air leaks everywhere and there were some but now they're fixed and the rattling must come from inside the cab somewhere, is there any possibility to remedy this or would I have to build a new box? :wall:

the thing is I can't see what the problem would be as I built the box very good.. maybe some small things off here and there that shouldn't matter(nothing more than usual I guess, as I built 4 T30's that I got right)

Check the thread by doncolga on the T30 vibration and diagnosis. You may have a loose brace inside the cab.

Is your wiring secure and not flopping around inside?

How much power did you apply? It somewhat sounds like a bad driver.

Loose or blown driver perhaps.

Did some more testing today and the conclusion are following:

*It's no doubt the AT is a BF design..!
*The unit I have is at least playing 80% properly

What I've done differently today is:

*The first time I made the mistake of trying it in the car without any fullrange system playing... only the subwoofer. This time I put in one of my JBL eon tops in the car(I havn't hooked up the car system yet) and BANG, ladies and gentlemen, there it was... DON'T try a sub without the rest of the fullrange system, it has to relate to something to be able to get a fair judgement!

*increased the LPF filter from 80 to 106 hz.. Obviously I like higher boomier freq's from the sub in the car and this made a big difference... might even increase it some more

*Last time I tested it there were some(actually rather many) air leaks in it... and new appeared as I sealed others(I guess due to higher compression/pressure)... Conclusion: This is the only point I don't agree with the plans, as they state that you don't need to use a lot of glue.. This was a major reason in the leaks as I used less glue in this box than the T30's, USE A LOT OF GLUE!

Still, there might be some rattling comming from the cab(I'm a bit confused here as it seem to dissapear and come whenever it want, and this is very hard to hear, if at all, when placed in the trunk) when listening close to the mouth and there may be a single leak here or there, but this is definently a keeper!

Thanks for a great design..! Hope I can squeeze out that last 15-20% which I expect from it tho, even I'm already (almost)satisfied..!

You'll have to decide if living with a leak and risk of toasting the driver is outweighed by the hassle of sawing off the top to give it a slathering of pl.

A lot of glue is relative. Not a lot to me might still be way more than you used. That said, if you are going to err on one side or the other, go with lots of glue :).

I am a fan of excess, particularly when the other alternative involves far more effort...

The strange thing is that on most of the places the glue expanded out, but only the smallest tiniest hole or crack(I mean, barely see-able) is leaking.. you hear it throught the instrument described in the plans good tho..!

The thing im a little concerned of is the surrounding of the driver which leaks on some places.. how u guys remedy this?

You mean where the driver fits into the baffle? I'm fairly sure we used a double layer of gasket tape which was cut to fit perfectly using a jigsaw type pattern so it all interlocked. It's extra effort but it meant we had faith that it'd be the last thing to leak.

The gasket of the TB woofer is divided in 4(i think) parts, and when compressing it there can be leaks in these 4 places where the pieces meet each other, so it's actually only four small places where it's possible to happen but I could hear some air leaking throught..!

Do you understand what I mean?

I do indeed. Every gasket that came supplied with my drivers has been a single piece though so it's not an issue I've had to deal with myself. Sounds annoying. :?

I have another video I forgot to put up from last summer, this was one of the best and funniest parties I've been organizing and the four t30's were slaying some serious shit offcourse. Tops are JBL eon15's.

Hope you can see the video as it is facebook, at least I get goosebumps all over! Outdoors, this is.
