Leland, have you considered picking up stock from other retailers while it's out there?
Looked, but not going to. Just going to ride it out.

I sure hope this isn't some elaborate april fools joke...if it is bravo

If not its pretty sad, but not a deal breaker esp. since we already have plans for the Lab 12 in the Titans...
with that said how come these designs were never made with Lab drivers from the get go? Bill seemed to come up with the designs pretty quickly.. What trade offs other than weight would you expect with a Lab 12 T39?

Weight is the main issue. The build is more complicated, but not overly so.

You're absolutely right! I was thinking about that already and trying to make some plans. I just couldn't re-sell them here. I've made some awesome internet friends on this forum and everyone I've had contact with on this forum has been nothing but good to me. I couldn't in good conscience re-sell them to anyone here at a higher price for profit.
IMO I don't see it that way, you don't have to soak anyone. If you buy a 2512 for $100 and the price goes to $200 then you can sell yours for $150. You make a small profit for your time, effort, lost interest (you could use that $100 elsewhere) and risk. The buyer who either missed the boat or didn't have available finance right now still gets a deal. It is a win/win. If the member who wants them is some one who helped you or the community a lot then cut them a better deal.
If the drivers dry up and run out, then you sell them for more than MSRP you may have a conscience issue. Besides that there are non-neo options every build that I am aware of so you are not holding a magic key. It would be like Leland not having margins cause we are all forum friends.
BTW last I checked there was a open box 3015lf on ebay from beach audio for like $140 shipped. So someone may want to grab that before it is too late.
I personally would be all over these deals (I did buy a couple drivers for building not selling) but alas my brilliant Lab 15 Guitar Center mis pricing buy has not hit anywhere near a break even point so the WAF is nil on investing in neo.

Would you still be able to mix 3012lf and Lab 12 loaded T39's together and sound fine?

I run 3012lf and 4012 t39s together all the time. Just used the 4012's to get rid of them.

I just ordered two 3012lf off eBay for $179 each, free shipping. There are not many left on eBay...

My ebay order is scheduled for delivery Friday. Almost as fast as Leland, but not quite.
I've added RSS feeds on neodymium, but you sure get a lot of unrelated trash bits. I need to submit this to the How It's Made crew to get em to do a segment on neodymium magnets for speakers. Maybe hit up Eminence!

That would be awesome.

I'm glad you all shed some light on this situation,i woke up thinking it was a conspiracy against BF cabs,i have been waiting on 1016 piezo's for quite a few weeks, got my flat array DR 250's all done and cant use them until the tweeters come in from the Phillipines.I wonder if the recone kits are gonna go up too,i bought one from Leland just in case.Me myself,i think i would just spend the extra money on 3015 LF's rather than try different drivers.I'm willing to pay the extra money to keep the weight down and still save over buying "name brand" speakers.

What's raising the prices is the lack of availability of the neo magnets, so I think the recone kits will remain at the same price. Or least they should, but it's up to eminence to see how they handle that.
EDIT: Also, don't forget that all the top line of brand speakers (which most likely used neos) will also go up in price, so it's not just the DIY crowd that got bad part.

That is something I have been thinking about and I think that Bill mentioned something about this too; all of the speakers that I hear compared to Bill's designs (QSC k-series etc) are using Neo magnets so they will be jumping up in price too. That or diving in quality when they cut other corners to keep their bottom line. Ultimately the whole process will probably drive more people here.
Should be interesting.
