I was wondering if Bill felt that there could be some sonic problems created by my addition of the front trim pieces. I installed them because the carpenter in me worried about the raw plywood edges showing and wanted to put some pine trim on the fronts. I felt that sound exiting the horn would be first hitting the grille frame before the front trim and might not matter, but I am still a novice to this area of expertise.

The front trim I'm talking about can be seen better before installing the grille frame and painting in this pic.

Just for the purpose of future possible consideration and possible requests from other musicians etc. about wanting me to build them speakers after having seen/heard mine, or the possibility that I may approach a music store ran by people i know who have a local store and internet store, what is required if I were to build and sell BFM cabinets I made? I know that firstly I would have to be an authorized builder (or assume so), I looked around the site but don't see what is required to become one. I have not contacted or been contacted to do this as of yet and thought I would ask here first to see what or how that might work. What I am working towards :1) building monitors, mains(tops) and subs and assembling a complete and updated sound system. 2) Hiring out to provide sound reinforcement services in my area, some inside clubs but mostly outdoor festivals. 3) Continuing to build up a stock of for sale BFM cabinets for both live pa and dj and branching out into home theater and instrument cabs. It's a long range goal, and I'm now just in step 1, but I wanted to start collecting info about this now as I begin to judge feasibility. ok if that's not a mouth full I don't know what is LOL :loler:

As long as your grille has an open area percentage greater than 60%, even with the pine strips, sound won't be affected.

To become an authorised builder it says here:

Listening to them now, with the auto eq function of the dbx they sound fine, very cutting and present. I have them crossed over at 95 hz. and while they of course don't thunder (that's not what they are for) they have surprising bass punch in the 250 hz range and the 1200 hz range of the snare crack sounds great . And they use a very small amount of power to become ear splitting. As you can see I used the melded array and it has a great focus but not too narrow, it tends to beam at the musician using this as their stage monitor. For the next project of the WH 10's I will be using the panel mount option as I believe those will be used as more distant monitors. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the plans Bill States that panel mounting decreases axial sensitivity and increases dispersion. Sounds like WH10's with panel mount tweeters would work great as a full response monitor placed more than 6' from players for an almost side fill sort of function. Like using the WH8's as spot vocal monitors and WH10's as whole band/ multi-player more distant monitors. I MADE SPEAKERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Well done!

The multi-tone finishes are not my cup of tea but you seem to have pulled it off nicely.

Here's food for thought; I think a thin black frame, same as your grill mount frame, mounted on the outside of the grill, (to cover the grill edges if that wasn't clear) would really give these a polished look!

Either way, Bravo!

I decided to alternate the lugs on the melded array. This allows me to set the blade lower as to not cut the screw lugs of the tweeter bodies. I have read others suggesting to align them and have the lugs facing each other in the array to shorten the wires, but I find the amount of wire worthwhile so as not cut into the screw lugs when cutting the edges.

What? How did I say those things? Or how did I modify your cab pic?

If it's the second one, I work in Photoshop extensively. I just created a quick hack-up to visualize it

"The cab is lined with 1 to 1½ inch thick polyester quilt batting or mattress
topper foam. Line the cab bottom, lower and upper back." (From the plans)
So no foam on the sides? Any reason why? Unnecessary? :feedback:
