Sorry it's been a while - been very busy of late! More build pics...

Here the cab has just been painted. I used Tuffcab with a cheap emulsion roller and was very pleased with the results...

So on the last day of a tour of France I was doing with The Animals a couple of weeks ago, the head gasket blew on the van. We had to fly home leaving all our backline behind. As it turns out this was just the 'kick up the backside' I needed to get my BFM cab finished :-)

Here's the completed cab with the rest of my gear all ready to be picked up for it's first gig at Leicester Square Theatre, London. It was a bit scary as I only completed the cab at 1:30 am that morning and hadn't been able to test it at any volume to speak of lol...

And so here it is, my first ever attempt at a cab build sat waiting to do its first gig!! A very proud moment :-)

The gig is with The Animals at Leicester Square Theatre, London with special guest Chris Farlowe so I really hoping the cab delivered the goods lol!!!

Looked great under the lights I thought....

So how was it you might ask????

AMAZING!!! INCREDIBLE!!!

Couldn't be happier with the cab and the drivers aren't even run-in yet. I powered the cab with a Warwick Tubepath 10.1 1000w head and the dynamic range was unreal. In fact what I was hearing from the cab was exactly what I put in - so open and transparent. If responded so well to dymanic changes in my playing whereas many amps kind of compress things a lot (which I detest!!!). You could hear the tone of the bass sooo clearly and yet the lows were defined and had real authority.

Now to build cab no 2 :-D ..............................

 Congrats, the cab turned out GREAT! Well done! I'd love to hear what my bass/amp sounds like through this cab. Having heard other BFM horns like OTops and Titans, I have an idea of what it might sound like, but that's no substitute for actually hearing one.

Having not really liked most commercial cabs I played through, I built a fEARful, which is a beast of a cab, but it's still a direct-radiator design.

It's probably too early to tell as you've not had a lot of play time on the cab, but do you find that you need the tweeter? I'm assuming there's an option to build this cab as a 2-way, w/o the tweet? When I built my fEARful I built a 3-way cab, just to have "the Cadillac" of the line. But I found that I don't like that hi-fi sound and most of the music I play is classic rock/R&B/Motown, which doesn't exactly have a full-range bass tone. The tweet has an L-pad (and a nice one too) so I keep it turned down all the way. But still, building w/o the tweet would've saved me about $100 and some time. Live and learn I guess.

BTW, is your BFM badge recessed into the front of the cab? It looks it. That's some nice routing work you did there. Again, the cab looks fantastic and it sure sounds like you're pleased w/the performance. Nice "on stage" pics, BTW.

Congrats!
Great build and obviously you're not to shabby if you're touring with The Animals.
Glad it sounds good for you as well.

I have to say:
I really really like the way you inset the badge...

Where's the "5-Harley award for first builds"?
