TTLS To Help Out TT
First Paint
Today I'm putting on the first coats of paint while I can still get to the interior. Black for the deep inside and white on the mouth to match the rest of the room. I've used glazing bondo on the brad holes, screw holes, plywood voids and any deep gouges. These pictures show 2 coats on the interior. The black is some excess latex I had laying around and the white is enamel/latex undercoater. Covers great in 2 coats, and you can put latex or enamel on top (but is not required). It is also tintable for those that would like to do that.
Once this is dried, I'll put the final coat of black on and make a clear demarcation line at the mouth base. More work to do, but getting there.

...gaze into the abyss...
Looking good. When it warms up I intend to get one of these done for myself. Try and grab some video of it pounding the crap out of your room please.

TT Video?
88h88, thanks for stopping by to look!
I'm afraid I don't have the equipment (or expertise) to do videos. I will get pictures of it in it's final resting place.
It seems every time I get out to work on it, either something comes up, or it is too cold to have paint cure. Looks like warm weather coming very soon, so the top has to go on pretty soon so I can finish the paint.

I always stop by to look. Always. It'll push me to get mine built. Hopefully the weather is decent enough for you to get this baby done soon, I'd quite like to hear your views on it.

Final Panel On
Thanks guys! Although I saw a bit over 700 views, you never know how many are actually getting any positive info from making these posts, so it sure is nice to hear from folks taking the time to read my saga.
What was that I said about things coming up? We have been trying to sell our Motor Home since last spring, and it sold yesterday. So now I have 2 days to pull our 15 years worth of camping/traveling supplies and get it to the new owners. They already have the new plates, insurance and everything and are chomping at the bit for us to empty it.
As I was making the trips in and out, I thought it would only take a few minutes to drill the screw holes, apply the PL and screw down the top since I had the locating pins. It actually turned out to go pretty fast, and I was able to get a couple of pics to show.
Since it's raining, I thought I'd get them posted while we wait for a break in the rain to resume unloading.....

That white and black turned out pretty sweet. I am really looking forward to seeing it in place and hearing how good it sounds and what it adds to the other TT.

Handsome paint work!

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT
I also approve of the white paint!
I skimmed the whole thread..... So the TT has two build options in the plans?
EDIT:
Oh so it does, I just looked at the main page.

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT
I'm glad you all like the paint! I wasn't sure how it would turn out. My last TT is still in plywood finish, but since it is hidden, that isn't a big thing. Since this thing will be seen, I had to do something to pretty it up. I just hope it doesn't look like the "Tower Of White" when I get finished.
Today I was able to get the last two braces on for supporting the end panel (remember I'm making it removable) do the final end cut on the mouth and put more bondo on all those screw holes, brad holes, big dings and such. I also cleaned up the PL from the last panel installation. Unlike the other panels, I did not smear this one since it was on the outside. I let the bead cure and then used a sharp chisel to remove it. Will definately look better when painted.
Will be too cold tomorrow to paint, so will try and do more bondo work in preparation.
Thanks for the positive comments everybody!

More Sanding
Didn't get out of the 30's today, so I just worked on more sanding and more bondo. Since the bondo glazing putty shrinks quite a bit, a screw hole usually takes about 3 applications of bondo to fill it and get it even.
I did add two more supports for the removable panel at the open end. This should give it enough support.
Just one quick photo today.

That's why you should be using auto body filler, instead of glazing putty.NCDaveD wrote:Since the bondo glazing putty shrinks quite a bit, a screw hole usually takes about 3 applications of bondo to fill it and get it even.

Re: TTLS To Help Out TT
I seem to remember a small can of that stuff SOMEWHERE around here, but dang if I can find it.
Usually the quickest way for me to find something is to go ahead and replace it. Within one or two days, the original item will show up for sure!!!
