That's what offspring & students are for: Wax on, wax off.GirlyHandedDog wrote:I've got a few tools and toys, but unfortunately the paint booth belongs to my employer. I could probably find another job that pays better than the one I have, but the tools/stuff they have make it difficult to leave.wallywally wrote:I'm very envious of the tools (toys) you have accumulatedVery nice work!
Just missing the most important component... patience!el_ingeniero wrote:Piano finish. You almost certainly have everything required.
Flat black primer, white pinstripes and Von Dutch flaming/winged eyeballs, then a layer of semigloss urethane over all that.GirlyHandedDog wrote:I really like the tobacco sunburst finish that you see on a lot of Fender Stratocasters and Gibson Les Pauls. I'm going to give it a go and see if I can accomplish something like that. I'm not too worried about durability of the finish. Between you, me, and the lampost these TLAHs will be on either side of my TV for a vast majority of their life

Come on, you got 2 weeks to tell me what those SB's sound like! lol
Those panels look excellent by the way, you'll have to let us know how you did it?

Re: TLAH Pro - CNC Build
I got sidetracked with an unexpected engine rebuild project along with trying to get a dollhouse built for my daughter for christmas. Where are my priorities?!67baja wrote:Any updates/review yet? I can't wait to hear the review.
Anyhow, I was a tweeter short after puncturing one with the cordless drill... oops. I got a few extra tweeters in case I make that blunder again and they're waiting patiently to be installed.
I still haven't applied a finish to the cabinets yet, but thanks to a poor fellow that's moving to Peru and having to sell everything he owns in the next two weeks, I found all three of these on the local classifieds for $75. Woohoo!!:

So really, all I've got left to do is apply the finish, assemble, and deal with the crossover.
On a side note, it's my birthday in a few days... luckily my wife lets me buy my own present instead of buying me a lame pair of pants or something I don't want. Apparently I'm incapable of making a table saw sled accurately, as mine is off by just enough to agravate me.. so I decided to go with the incra miter 5000 sled:

I couldn't help myself a few days ago and installed all of the speakers before putting the finish on, just to see what it would look like. This gives an idea of the finished product (sorry for the crappy phone pic):
