All these hard surfaces are easy to keep clean, although there's no reason why sound deadening can't be wrapped in plastic to keep it fresh.
It was probably worse before the indoor smoking ban.

I wonder how this sound system will compare to Ministry of Sound in London. I haven't heard either of them mind!
You're thinking about this too hard. Clubs don't have any acoustic treatments because they spent 250k on a sound system, it's gonna sound amazing!

(they don't know what they're doing and the punters don't care. get 'em in, get 'em drunk and get 'em out.)

Luckily I have plenty of 1" sound adsorption panels.. Once I fire the system up I'll see if this will actually help.. I'm glad you pointed that out, I was under the impression that first reflection spots weren't that important in a club setting. Thanks bud.

I'm gonna correct you on this point here, you will be playing just regular old dance music, the 'electronic' bit has been entirely superfluous since the 70s...

Ugh, Boston clubbers ain't gonna know what hit 'em at this joint... I do sincerely hope they appreciate it, I know I'd kill to be able to party at a club with a legitimately killer sound system with someone running it that actually understands what quality is.

Haha you are right I stand corrected! Oddly I used to really dig that Donna summers song as a kid lol..

I'm anxiously awaiting the responses from a packed house! That's what I live for.. I always knew I wanted a nightclub solely for the ability to build the best sound system around.. I have a funny feeling I was successful :fingers:

I agree with this; it's important. We won't get into "total room treatments" and such, but at least that square, back wall should be treated. Thick, black fabric hung like drapes would work. The bottom two DRs that fire into the crowd won't be too much of a problem since the bodies will absorb much of the HF. But that top DR aimed at the back of the room will bounce off that back wall.

I am interested in seeing the cage you're welding up. Being this is a fixed installation you can make it as bomb-proof as possible since you'll never have to move it.
I just picked up the steel today.. I was gonna have a local artist metal fabricator make something cool up but they were way to expensive :broke: so I'll build something myself simpler but affective.. Basically I don't want to hang them since there is nothing there to really hang them from, so a cage will add a nice Industrial look to it but be safe as we'll. It's should look cool since it will be a tad over 10 feet tall..

Totally understand about not hanging them. Being that you have a fixed installation, you can make a cage with shelves and nice, big "L" feet with holes in them. Then you can lag bolt the things into the concrete floor. If people can actually touch/lean on them, you want it strong enough that you'd need a diesel dually to pull the tower down. Keep in mind that if it LOOKS like "monkey bars" some drunk monkey WILL try to climb it. So you want it strong enough to hold his drunk ass up until you can adminster the proper punishment for doing something stupid. :bash:

Man, that's such an awesome song! Love the way it just keeps going and going, without having quite the irritating repetition of much of today's techno. That being said, I'm AWFULLY partial to this version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh1GVuftrYU

Try it with a pair of DR250s and a wide pair of T-60s...at war volume. Even the MIDS make your eyes vibrate! But the bottom end...wow

It's been a couple years since I've seen that video. Oh, what fun it would be to be the BE at that one!

Hey guys.. I've been busy getting the build out finished and I had a last minute revision.. I originally was goin to run 8 tubas side by side underneath the main stage but it looked kind of boring. The last Club Therapy was know for the big Martin Bass Wall it had. So my resident DJ asked me if I could do the same thing so the people who dare, could stand in front of it. We would just stack 4 more FAKE Tubas, 2 on each end. So I re-built the stage to accommodate 4 more Tubas (12 total).. The pic shows only 8 of them cus I have to build 4 more.. So the big question is should I build four FAKE Tubas and just let the bottom row of 8 be functional or does it go against the rules to run all 12?

I remember in one of the architectural drawings you posted the main stage was much bigger. I'm assuming the lowest platform in the middle is the stage? That looks to be about 8'x10' if that big. I'm assuming the DRs will sit on the platforms, in the cage you're making, on top of the Tubas? What goes on top of the platforms on the ends, then?

Will four more (real)Tubas fit under the stage? If so, run'em like that. That way you get little to no power alleys and your DJ gets what he wants, and gets to see idiots go deaf standing in front of the 2x2 stacks. :D I really don't see a point to fake Tubas. It's not like having fake Marshall Stacks on a stage and from 100 feet away they look real. Anyone can walk right up to the Tubas and tell which ones are not playing.

On the other hand that's already WAY too many t60's for that room. But I suppose if you're going to do the work to make "fake" tubas might as well build real ones, then the whole setup can be run with minimal voltage levels.

The center of the stage (DJ booth area) is 10x12.. The 2 platforms are for the dancers/performers.. The space on the outer edges of the stage will be where the the cage holding the DR's will mount..

Yes 4 more tubas go under the center of the stage, So there will still be 8 functioning tubas side by side like the original plan..

Yes true, they will barely see much voltage but it will sure look cool..

OK, I get it now. The "stage" is a DJ booth. Got it. Plenty of room in that case. I was just trying to imagine fitting a 4-piece band up there with amps, monitors and everything else.

Four Fake Tubas you could probably throw together in two days, especially with your jigs and your skills. I'm thinking just the outside box with the braces inside the mouth, and a couple pieces of 2x4" inside to brace the "box" left/right/front/back.

Making "real Tubas" is well, making real ones. Baffles, internal panels and all the assembly mess and stress that goes with it. Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way? I'm looking at this "problem" like ONE OF US looks at it. First thing I WOULD DO in your club is walk up to every cab and stick my head in it to see if it's playing. And I think MOST folks on this forum would do the same thing. But your customers are not "sound people" or "musicians" per say. I'm sure some are but not the majority.

I guess one of the possible pluses (aside from adding to the eardrum-crushing bass you already have) to adding more real cabs is that even if you don't have them plugged in, they could always be used as spares for either that club or one of your other places. Just a thought.
