Resistance 1%-5% of load will keep you out of trouble.

Am I doing my calcs wrong? I put together a spreadsheet and a 50' run of 12/2 (100ft total) works figuring 5% of load. Or is it that your best recommendation was to stay much closer to 1% of load, going higher if you absolutely had to?

13/4 is commonly available from parts express as is 11/4 although it's not cheap.

I use 12/4 SO on my runs...the two long cables are 50'...also have some 20' and 10' versions. Works fine....doesn't fit speakons without some drilling and epoxying...SJ cable does fit okay. SO is cheaper locally than SJ at the local electrical supply house.

I use 12/3 SO and 10/3 SO for all my a/c runs.

Front of house gets a 14/3 100' cable that goes with the snake.

Edit: Almost forgot...just wire with 4 conductor cable now...it's standard and you'll thank me later! It's not much more to do it right the first time.

again, I believe it to be 2 Ohm (since meter registers .8 in a known 0 Ohm circumstance) also again I wouldn't be suprised if it is a 30 awg cable, it is very very flimsy, and I KNOW it is not below 20 awg just by looking at it.

Short your meter leads together and it should read "0" and nothing else. If it's reading .5 .6 .7 something than it's inaccurate or there is some resistance in either your test leads or connections.

Either send it out for calibration or buy a Fluke!

Test resistance of each multimeter lead individually by removing one, and putting the probe of the remaining one into the empty socket.
