Any change when the instrument is connected/disconnected or all instrument cords removed from the amp/s?shclark wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:51 pm Just to clarify further. The slight hiss is present at all volume settings and with treble off or on. My phone app says it's about at 3.8 K. Maybe that's just a characteristic of the tweeters. Tried different speaker cables too. Amp doesn't make this kind of noise even at full volume. How tricky is it to adjust tweeter signal level?

Re: Jack 110 questions
No change with bass and connecting cable removed. Just amp to speaker. It's not horrible, just trying to understand. Maybe I'll try wiring in series like Bill said. OK to reduce the starting level going to the tweeters. 6 Goldwood melded array in series/ parallel. I imagine with the tweeters there, I'll still get the response with a little extra eq.
Re: Jack 110 questions
So Bill, if I switch to series wiring and thereby reduce the signal level going into the tweeter array, am I right to figure that I can still bring the level back up by using the amp's eq?
Re: Jack 110 questions
OK OK Just tried another amp. Shazaam. This Fender combo was built with a tweeter in the cab. Proves the electronics statement for sure. Much quieter. Thanks again for all the answers and patience, and especially for such a great design.
Re: Jack 110 questions
Seems like a great sounding cab for my 5 string so far. Amazing power at all frequencies. Anyway, looking at an eariler post, I see a question another J10 builder had which is a slight rattle on E string when playing G. (He noted also G# and A) Not an issue with other speakers and amps. The same note played on the B string does not produce this rattle. Maybe the J10 sensitivity is so high that it reveals a fret buzz, but I don't hear it on the other combo amps. Question is about the possibility of removing some material from the phase plug. I'm using the S2010 speaker, so wondering if it might possible hit the plug at certain pitches? If that seems like a good idea, I might even chamfer the edges of the spacers while I'm at it. Is this just extra work with no benefit?

Re: Jack 110 questions
If it doesn't do it on one string and does on another it's the bass.
Re: Jack 110 questions
Thanks Bill, guess I must use that G a lot....will look at the neck and frets closer...and thanks for the excellent design!
