Oh? Switching from your TT to your THT? May as well, right? Like, why not?

Sounds like you're considering something other than the board amp for THT amplification. How are you planning to amplify, EQ, and crossover the system?

Bluetooth board -> minidsp. Split at 120 Hz.
200 w sub-amp to tht. 20 w "maxamp" (high gain board-amp) to the boominator running on battery.
I'm really curious, if the THT will keep up with the boominator at 20 w. That thing is is seriously loud. Like 110-115 dB loud.

Question: is bass truly omni-directional, og is it only inside?
I'm thinking about placing the boominator on top of the table tuba, but then the TT will fire to the right, instead of front like the tops.

Cool! I have just never seen subs turned away from audiences outside. Like, never. That's why I thought it was mandatory to face the horn mouth the same way as the tops, outside.

That's because they listen with their eyes and have no understanding of how speakers work. Even mains are omni-directional up to 200Hz or more. Dispersion is still 180 degrees where the baffle or radiating plane is one wavelength in dimension.

As usual, there are caveats. But, ultimately there are caveats to the caveats and it all boils down to exactly as Bill says... 100% Omni directional.

The caveat is, arrays of multiple cabinets can be physically arranged and/or electronically delayed to create some directionality of sub frequencies.

The caveat to the caveat is, ultimately the pressure waves emanating from each individual cab propagate unidirectionally and it's the constructive and deconstructive summing of the waves from each individual source that create the directionality and pattern control.

I'm only just starting to learn more about this portion of audio, so I'm no authority in the matter. Just thought I'd share, since you seem to soaking this stuff up too.

Point the mouth wherever you like. If it's set up well, no one will know.

Bill, something I'm not super clear on and maybe you can help me better understand is... A TTLS stood on end and firing upwards, would it be a little different story indoors vs. outdoors?

Not unless your listening position was in a hot air balloon above it. There would be somewhat of a loss of ground plane reinforcement for those on the ground.

IIRC that would be around 3dB in loss?

Tough to say, because it's not only frequency dependent but also listener position dependent.
