Build them as wide as you can transport. From what I've read in the reviews, 30" seems to be a favored compromise without going the full 36". Although, the sensitivity of a 36" T48 is pretty phenomenal.

i just read through the plans and it seems that the Lab15 offers quite a bit more output than the 3015LF. am I reading that correctly? If it is almost double then I have no problem going that route. more output per cabinet is always welcome. price is not an issue. just checking with you guys again before I pull the trigger.

The LAB15 has 14% more Vd than the 3015LF, which would be close to 1dB more peak output.

The LAB15 is also a 6ohm driver, so at 50volts it's 600 watts, whereas the same voltage in a 3015LF is 450watts.

Four LAB15's weigh 96 pounds, four 3015LF's weigh 36 pounds.

The LAB15 does have the advantage in maximum output. Up to you if the cost, weight, and slim margin of advantage is worth it. If it were a permanent or semi-permanent install, I'd go with the LAB's. Otherwise, I'd choose the 3015LF. Ultimately up to you though.


There's waaaaaay more to be gained in maximizing cab width than there is in driver choice.

I just finished a T-48 @ 36 wide with the Lab 15 2 months ago , I will build another it’s frigging awesome. Of course I have only a Peavey SP-118 to compare it to.

The best I can tell, the quick answer to your question is; that driver will be displacement limited to 95 volts. Using the equation V × V ÷ Ω = Watts, you'll need an amplifier capable of at least 1100 honest watts per channel. If you start your own thread, I wouldn't mind discussing it a little more in depth.
