kenkenni wrote:Thanks David for your input. I already have the plans. I am filling up and saving electronic shopping carts up of the things I will need to save time
until I purchase the wood in a week. I have the speakers and tweeters already. I think I'll go ahead and cut , glue , and wire up the tweeters for
the time being. I like how the grills fit on some of the SLA builds I've seen so I was asking if any who bought them at Reliable Hardware can tell
me the dimensions and folds they purchased, as I was going to go ahead and order those items so they would be here and ready. It's no biggie though
I will just measure if I have to. Thanks again! I do plan to post some pics of my progress also so stay tuned.
Speaking of SLA Pro grills, check out DanielNY's wrap around grill design:

Pretty slick huh?

An alternative to Reliable Hardware for your grills is ebay seller spkrparts!-2007 (Pro Speaker Parts). He will custom make any size you want. Just send him a message. I have been very happy with the OT12 grills he custom make for me. Here is one of his standard size grills; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-12-x18-x-1 ... 3cb88490f2.

Cool.
My (older) plans for the SLA pro say the following:
Piezo arrays do not require a high-pass filter, but a filter will improve their performance. This filter has a 3.5kHz corner frequency, reducing power to the piezos by 12dB (90%) at 1.8kHz.

Grant the plans I have doesn't mention a 3.5kHz anywhere. The only info I got was in the section of the plans for the non-pro SLA and it
recommended a 4000 kHz cross-over. Even the updated plans don't specifically mention the type even though there is a pretty detailed
description of the components. Since I'm not an electronics expert I don't know what type it is. I just want to make sure I purchase the
exact cross-over required when it is time.

You can get the correct parts here, and then build it yourself. http://www.speakerhardware.com/35k-piez ... filter.php

Or, you can figure it out from scratch http://speakeressentials.com/pages/cros ... to-sla-pro

If it's not specifically designed for the SLA Pro it won't work. The only place that sells a completed SLA Pro high pass filter is speakerhardware.com.

Thanks for those links everyone especially to speakeressentials. They go into a little more detail than the plans. Seems the recommended cross-over
is a 3.5kHz. Thanks again I'm a little more prepared now.

Mr. Stratispho thanks for that direct link to the parts. I'm still a little sloppy with the soldering which is why I am trying to have
a backup plan. I most likely will purchase the parts for the 2x6 SLA as I plan on doing both versions.

Keep in mind that the 3.5kHz was for those specific speakers in that specific configuration. If you're not using the recommended speakers your crossover point will be different.

Stratispho. I will be using the correct drivers as called for in the plans. I am thankful for all the input you guys are giving me.

Am I correct in thinking that the 2x6 version uses the same cross-over components as the 4x6?
I'm ordering the components in a couple of days.

The crossover point is the same in each cab.

Tell Leland you're building both 4x6, and 2x6, in case impedance changes some of the component values...

Thanks Grant. Also here are Just A couple of pre-build pics for you guys

Dammit FedEx! Noticed the gaps on the side in these two. Will this affect it's performance? I bought these Goldwoods from Parts Express since I already had items in my cart there.

I managed to get this much done this evening. Did not have much daylight time left so I did this in about
2 hours. I outlined and marked the woofer and tweeter holes Then took a hole cutter and drill to the tweeter
cut-outs. I then took my oscillating tool you see in the pic, attached a plunge cut blade, and cut out the
rectangle area around the tweeter. The woofers were routed with my router and Jasper Jig circle cutter.
I did both baffles at the same time which went very well as I began to run out of daylight. Here is the result.

Can anyone tell me if the small gaps in the tweeters in the above pic will affect performance. I want know in
case I have to order some extras.

Since the cab is not a sealed one, the gaps don't affect performance.
