Love the pictures! Great build thread. I will be referencing this thread when I start building my Otop 12s soon. Thanks!

Cheers '007! They were a fun build, and much less of a mountain to conquer than the T30's were. They're not quite finished yet, I still need to put the grilles on 'em, so more pics are coming!

Question on buttoning up the back panel. Do you recommend just using wood screws, or, do you think installing threaded inserts would be better? I know the panel won't be taken on and off much, so its not critical, just wondering before I cut up my next pair... thanks

Use the screws. I put 'em about 2 inches apart....rather have too many than not enough.

9 years and many gigs later, I finally got around to finishing these off with a set of grills! 9mm hex holes, 62% open 1.3mm galvanised steel. Painted matte black. Did up some mounting blocks to attach them. Reckon they look mint!

I then cut the flyscreen into the desired shape, and folded it with a metal ruler. I used hot melt glue to seal the joints in the mesh to complete the "handle port mesh lining". I then tacked them into place on the side panels, and bogged up the contacting tabs with hot melt glue to seal/strengthen/prevent possible vibration. The result was pretty good.
Dan, great build thread and I'm really glad you updated it so many years later so I would find it! :) I'm just starting on my OT12s after a long journey on a bunch of T48s. You have some great pictures here I'll be using as a reference for sure!

I LOVE this critter screen idea. I've been thinking about how I'll tackle that problem since here in Arizona we have plenty of the little buggers and they would absolutely get in there and make a mess. After years of gigging with these how did you like the screens? Would you have changed anything about what you did?

Thanks Dave, and yeah the screens in the ports are perfectly sized, I can grab a full lazy handful of OT12 and my fingers just glance the screen sitting behind there. They are still just as I had installed them so they're definitely standing the test of time, and have kept the insides of the cabs critter free.

How do the 48's go? Insane I would imagine, bet you love em! :)

Cheers,

Dan
