Yay! I found the yellow a bit difficult to see.

OK, we're also now Tapatalk'ed - I've had a quick play and that works. So give it a try.

The posted date used to show up in the bottom left of a post. It's not there now. This was very helpful when viewing using the first unread post - you could just scroll up a hair to see when the last post was before the one you are viewing.

It's in the top right now. I'll see if it can move though.

What does it mean when the little icon is pulsing? I know a dot means that I've posted on that thread. Maybe a legend for the icons? Or, is there one already and I missed it?

I believe that means it is a thread which you have replied in now has a new message.

What do you mean by directly upload?
The picture upload tools have (according to the documentation) improved considerably but they appear to be exactly the same as they were before.

Directly meaning "click here" to upload a photo, not "cut and paste the link to your external image hosting site here". Looks like it's the same.

Yes, you can do it in the block just below the reply window that has a 'browse' and 'add to file' button. I've been looking for the attachments system but it looks like it was pulled in a Release Candidate prior to the latest version.
Pictures are limited to 900 by 900 pixels and a size of 300 kb.
