Spray the grill, not the foam. If you spray the foam, then you'll be covering the little holes where the sound comes out with glue....

Mine have held up for a couple of years....maybe three. Time's flying by.

3M 77 works well and comes out as a "spray", If you use 3M 90 or other adhesives that come out like a "spider web" then you'll be picking out adhesive from the holes.

What's the downside to not adhering the foam to the grill? I guess if it is too thin (2 mm thick seems to be a norm) there won't be pressure from the speaker front to the foam. Hmmmm.

No problem....that's what we do here.

Adhering the foam to the grills is an easy but messy process. You will need some space to work in, and yes use 3M77. You'll need an area away from the foam to spray the grills.

I set up a few scrap wooden blocks on top of newspaper to rest the grills on. Why do that? Because if the grill is laying directly on the newspaper, after spraying the first grill, the newspaper will be covered in glue. The next grill you place on the paper will then have glue on the wrong side...a messy proposition.

So, put grill on top of blocks and spray the grill with adhesive. Wait a minute for it to get tacky.
Lift up grill and place on top of foam. Use something to press the grill into the foam. I used scrap boards.
Repeat process for all your grills and leave them with the grills pressed into the foam overnight. I simply stacked them all in a pile (boards b/t them) and sat some buckets full of water for weight on top of them.

Thank you Mike. Really hadn't counted on doing foam with the grills, truly appreciate all the help!! Hopefully I will have time in the morning, or else it won't be til Sunday… sigh.
