It has been a while since I received the bass, but I have hardly been able to play it yet, with rather urgent family matters that needed my attention as well as the holiday season.

It is better than what the looks would lead you to believe, no kidding. Bloody hell, what a bass :cowboy:

looks kinda like a much nicer/more pro version of a guitar I made a couple years ago. maple top, mahogany back. not bad for a 60 dollar wood investment (I bought the neck, for 20 bucks lol)

It has been a long time since I posted here, and I am even more busy than before. Just wanted to stop by and tell that I have recently taken delivery of a chambered fretless sibling to this bass. The man from Moffat is a bass building wizard, enough said.

Hi Ken old friend, good to see you here! Everything OK with you I hope? :cowboy:

OK then, let's get started with a brief recap of how this came about. I have had a satinwood ACG J-type 5 string fretless bass for quite some time now. It is a great instrument, both in terms of looks as well as sounds. And then I got myself a fretted ACG Graft Recurve. As good as the J-type is, I found out that the ACG Recurve shape just fits me better. Like a pair of well worn leather gloves, if you will. Some time after that I was back in Moffat Scotland, for a bass bash. That is where bass players meet, eat curry and drink beer on the saturday night, then meet again on sunday to see and play lots of basses and chat some more. There I played Ewan's 5str ACG Finn fretless. Wow, just wow. Again, the Finn shape is probably not for me, but it sounded fabulous and played just as nicely as my J-type. On top of that, it was chambered. That may have added a tad to the lovely fretless tones. So I visited Alan (the A in ACG) in his one-man workshop, touched some wood, out came the infamous spray bottle and I came home with this on my phone.

Seems like figured maple again, another wood to add some warmth to the color scheme, alder for the body. Nothing over the top fancy, more than good enough for me.

More to come.
