I was first thinking..... There's not going to be a lot of guitarists(always worried about their looks on stage) that would like that colour beside them on stage for pa or bass use! Something else sticking out and taking eyes off themselves?!

I've been patiently waiting for my shipment (containing crossover components, a strap handle, and gasket tape) from PE to arrive. A word of advice: never choose their UPS SurePost option. According to UPS, my parcel arrived in Houston on Wednesday, but there's no telling when it will arrive at my door.

Anyway, I'm using the Beta10 in this cab, and I had mentioned earlier how I'm hoping to put a neo driver in it at some point for weight reduction, as this is a primarily mobile rig. In my years here I'd never taken a look at the S2010 driver. Took a glance this morning and it lists at only 3.5 lbs.! Lighter than the 2510 by a pound, and 3 1/4 pounds lighter than the Beta. I feel like a chump for carrying around the Beta10 for so long. Power handling isn't an issue as this guy is usually only driven by my little Lepai amp. At prices right now, it's priced right in the middle of the Beta 10 and 2510.

Unless someone wants to talk me out of it, I think I'm going to scoop one up when the next paycheck comes in!

It's been slow going waiting on shipments to arrive. Finally got my crossover components, handle, and gasket tape in.

I threw together the crossover on a scrap piece of 1/4" ply and glued it to the box. The picture below shows it wired to the piezo array. I was pretty pleased with myself on how efficiently I was able to lay out the crossover. I've screwed it up enough times that I was bound to learn at some point.



The s2010 SHOULD be at my doorstep sometime today. Then it's just some soldering, and some quality time with the screwdriver. Hopefully I'm writing a success story by tomorrow!

You got the positioning of the coils relative to each other right. Not going to hurt my brain over the rest of it

I have always opted to also secure the heavier parts (coils) with zip ties in addition to hot melt. No idea if the glue alone will hold for cabs that are thrown about every now and then.

It looks like your 15uF cap is poly, not electrolytic.

No matter, so long as he doesn't mind the extra expense.

When I ordered the crossover components, I just repeated the original order from PE that I had made for the first BFM cab. That is, I didn't know quite what I was doing back then, and hitting "repeat order" was a lot easier than going through the website searching for what I'm looking for. It works, and I guess I wasted a few bucks. Oh well. At least I got the coils aligned in a not-bad configuration.

Leland's crossover kit parts would have been even simpler...and you would have got the right stuff...and probably paid less.
