Again, little or no bracing required for 18mm birch, less steps for the construction, cheaper build.

That sounds like a good idea, but I can't find any rigid casters with brakes on them.

I actually opted against casters on my Tubas for that reason, especially since my brother uses one as his home theater sub most of the time. :D We just use a cheap hand truck to move them.
