Since maximum excursion is often at the lowest frequency of the cab you need to make sure that your voltage isn't exceeded there...

That depends on the frequency response of the amp. Ideally, it should be +/- very little throughout the entire range. Crossover filters will affect this, since the "filter frequency" is a corner, and not an absolute. Picking a value dead-center between the HP and LP points will minimize that.

Unfiltered, the only change (again, ideally...) should be due to the AC coupling characteristics of the output stage, or the bandwidth limitations of the extreme HF.

If anyone finds differently I'd be interested to know, because the specs are published such that it should be a non-issue.
