Didn't change available space in my preset :(
Sounds weird!!
You would think that if they allow you to delete pre-sets, then that should make more room for saving your own settings.
Why else would they give you the ability to delete pre-sets in the first place!!!!!! :chainsaw:

Maybe you have to do a cold boot to be able to see/access the freed up memory.

It's my 1 and only custom preset that is showing low remaining processor capacity.

AFAIK :fingers: the processor is reduced every time you add a 'live' filter that is in use (even if it is on an UNUSED input or output). If a preset is not being used, then the processor %age shouldn't drop. It takes CPU (well, DSP) power to apply these filters, so each EQ filter or HPF/LPF or whatever reduces the %age. I don't own one, but have read the manual enough times!!! This may or may not be correct (someone with a DCX care to expand on or refute this?). Thanks :feedback:

It seems so long ago I was asking about this!

What you say has turned out to be the case, and I fixed the issue by removing as many as possible of the settings reducing CPU usage, and moving any EQ duties to a DEQ2496...

My million dollar question:

How many parametric eq filters can I use before I'm out of processing power.

Would be using it for eq on a left top, eq on a right top, and a crossover to a sub.

Don't need multiple presets, just this one.

Thanks,

Hi Jamie,

The DCX has, say, 15-20 presets for configuration. IIRC one of them is exactly what you're looking for, ie 1 sub and left and right tops.

How many PEQ adjustments can you do before you run out of processor space? Not quite sure. It won't take you long to find out though.

When I was first exploring it all I was just surprised how quickly processor "space" disappeared, and didn't want to run the processor space out to max.
I guess if it gets to be too much of a problem you could put a 31 band EQ in to sort EQ...

That's what I was afraid of... I was hoping to limit my gear to 2 amps and a DCX for processing for a small setup.

Looks like I'll probably just go with 2 inuke 3000s and call it good.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think I got mine to do more than maybe two...possibly three at the most. If you're careful with the setup you may be able to make it work. I use only 2-3 bands for my OT12's. I use a DEQ along with the DCX. I use the DCX solely for crossover and limiting...hopefully later on for distribution to another rack of amps.

Adding one rack unit in height to add the DEQ2496, along with it's RTA capability, instead of using any EQ at all in the DCX, isn't really making your rig super huge...

Yes, I thought about that, and I actually own the DEQ.

Doesn't sound like a big deal, but after some input from you guys and some further thought, I like the Idea of a new light weight amp with everything build in. I have a large system, but have been wanting a super small and simple system for bar gigs and you can never have too many amps.

There is obviously details I'm leaving out here, but the DCX would spend lots of idle time and for a bit more, I've got an amp that will do it all.

^ Fair enough :)

Let us know how it works out...

edit: just looked up the specs for the inuke 3000 on the berry site and it says nothing about on board EQ????

Aren't there 2 version of the Inuke amps. A version with and a version without onboard processing?

There are indeed. Similar in that respect to the Peavey IPR range.
