If properly braced per the plans, the cabinet won't vibrate enough to make the lamp bounce around. Maybe buzz a slight bit at WOT if the surface is uneven, but not just walk off.

Like bassmonster said, it doesn't seem to vibrate the items on the top too much. The top is solid 3/4" thick Aspen, so I think that helps to dampen some of the vibrations as well.

I'm starting to plan out the second sub and want to make the table top a few inches larger than the current one.

I think I already know the answer to this, but would it be a horrible idea to have a T18 and an AutoTuba in the same room? I know the general rule is not to mix different tuba subs, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. It seems like the TAT form factor would work better for an end table since the typical top dimensions are 24"x24". I wish I would have noticed the TAT before I built my T18, but hindsight is 20/20.

If it's not advisable to mix the two, I'll just build another T18 and build a box around it to get the dimensions I need. Maybe I'll double load it this time.

I figured that was the case. Another T18 it is.

New idea in case anyone is interested:

My wife wants another matching end table for the other side of the room. Rather than work around the T18 dimensions, I'll just make a box that another T18 can slide in and out of. The benefit is that I can make a traditional sized 24"x24" end table, I don't have to mess with veneer or hiding screws, the access cover will be hidden (WAF), and it's easy to change to a different sub (assuming it will fit) if I ever decide to. I'll probably need to secure the T18 to keep it from vibrating, but I think it should work otherwise.

The MCM-55-2421 is on sale for $28.99 right now, so a dual loaded version won't cost much more. Anyone see any flaws to this idea?

Could it possibly be Wapproved at 18" deep? That's still an end table, a lurvely veneered 3ft tall, 3ft wide one

"Hey honey, I built you a new dining room table for the living room!".

I'm going back and forth between two ideas. Can someone give me some input here on the better option?

A.) Build another T18, dual loaded to match my single loaded T18. Both placed in opposite corners of the wall.

OR

B.) Build a dual loaded TT long style and install it between the floor joists (16" spacing) in my basement, then install a large floor vent for it to fire through (in the corner of the living room). I might be able to fit it in behind my seating area instead of the basement idea, haven't decided yet. Either way, I'd need to unplug the T18.

I love my T18 and I should just be satisfied with what I have, but the extra low end extension of the TT would be nice. However, is it a larger benefit to have two T18's, or a single TT? I thought about doing the same between-the-floor joists idea with a THT LS, but the response graph make me think it wouldn't be worth it to build a minimum width THT.

I've got two T39's and four OTop12's to build for my church before I do anything, so it might be good for me to have some time to think about it before I do anything crazy.

All I can do is think about subwoofers and speakers here lately. What has this site done to me!?!
