Very true Netwerks! Almost more comfortable to lift in then recess barhandles or cut outs in plywood.
I make a quick sketch of how I the handles I tried to explain before could look like, something like the ones in the pics. The are nice to use, but takes up alot of inner volume:P

This has come up a few times- if you are planning on DIY flyin, it's prob best not to even go there. The dangers and liability issues mean it's not really viable. You would need properly engineered and designed mounting points etc etc.
I ground stack or stack on the subs if I have to. Not really any other options for me. I have couple of truss sections with large bases that I sometimes stack on but they are not quite high enough to be great, and i wouldnt want longer than the 1m sections without outriggers for the base.

If you were to use the spring-loaded style, you could recess them in somewhat so that they are flush. In behind the recess, add a 12mm plate for more depth for the screws.
