BTW, these amps are also all over eBay if you search for Tripath. Some of them come with the volume encoder, too

Have a look at this site. www.class-d.com and click on Mosfets / Modules.

That drives up the cost quite a bit.

(EDIT) also, since they are 4 ohm capable, can they be bridged with an 8 ohm speaker?

From 12 to 32v means you could also power from batteries!, a couple of 18ah motorcyle batteries for 24v maybe?

Contrary to what you might me led to believe by the site name, these modules are NOT class d, they're regular class AB amps, which means a couple of things:
  • They're not nearly as efficient.
  • They will require a big heat sink.
  • They will require a bigger and heavier power supply.

I was referring to the size and price of the amp modules.

Sure, but factor in the required heat sinks and larger power supplies, and it's not so small or cheap any more.

Initial tests of the Sure 8 watt/ch PE amp not too bad.
30hz test tone, I was getting about 3.5 watts out of it.
I was driving one 6 ohm speaker. Loud enough for my workshop.
Fairly easy to overdrive the inputs tho.
I was using a 12v power supply. More power may yield better results.

Haven't had time to test the 100w amp yet.

Oowee! I'm awaitin' on your results. Like, do the work better with 24 volts? Do they sound good? etc, etc.
Thanks!

I don't have a 24v power supply.
I wonder if I can wire two identical 12v wall warts together in such a way to get 24v... without blowing anything up of course.

NO. Oops, I'm yelling.
Eight C or D cell batteries all in a row will get you to twenty-four volts. Or, two car batteries in series will get you there as well.
