Because in Behringer's case, it does. it's the nature of the design. Compare the specs. How that equates in the end subjectively is beyond the scope of this thread.

I'm just letting the OP know that there's a particular application in mind for the design of the Eurocom platform and that Live Audio / DJ is not it.

I won't argue with you about Behringer. They have the technical ability to even make a standard AB2 topology sound bad. They may be pulling up their socks lately, but they put out some pretty poorly engineered pieces of gear over the years. Many of them were simply poorly executed copies of other manufacturers gear. As an example, the EP1500 circuit is virtually identical to a QSC RMX1450.

Yup, they used to (badly) copy everything, but in the last couple of years, they have changed direction and started to innovate. The CMD1 line of midi controllers demonstrates this. If only they had started selling these controllers when they announced them rather than a year or 2 later when the whole market had moved on!! I guess they are discovering that it isn't easy to develop a product from scratch :loler:

The EP2500/4000 are a direct copy of the RMX2450 produced by Phonic as OEM for Behringer. Very good amp for the money...

Frik that, MATE! We wanna HEAR DEM BIOTCHES! Video or it ain't happinin'!
Yeah, ok, will do! I did notice last night when cleaning off the mud from the speakers that on my 2nd OT, not only had I forgotten to stick on the foam/topper and braces onto the back panel of the speaker, but I had also forgotten to stick in the tweeter array diffuser :wall:

Once I get all these problems ironed out, then I will get pics AND A VIDEO of the entire system. In the meantime, here's the system at the free party the other week to keep you entertained:

I notice you've got the Speakons connected at the bottom of the OTs...!

Yes, I have to use the 2 pole Speakon plugs if I want to stand them upright -the corners provide enough clearance for the Speakon connectors and cables. I will rarely be using them in this configuration though. I wanted to use a sunken dish connector, and the best clearance for this was on the bottom. I still had to chop away some of the dish though to get it to fit. I didn't have enough time to do this on the 2nd sub before the party, hence the bare wire and connector block bodge :chainsaw: :(

EDIT: Oh hang on, Otops.. (I was on about the T30s) but yeah, I have the connectors on the bottom of them too. Makes for much neater wiring when they are up on stands (which they will always be). It also means that you can remove the back of the speaker, without having to worry about the wire from the connector to the xover.

Agreed. Though the EP4000 is a direct, ripoff copy, it's a really good copy. It's dependable "old style iron." Just remove the pointless "front air filter" that actually just impedes the exit of air from the chassis b/c the fan blows back to front. They obviously did not think that part through! Still, great amp.

Funny, but it's true, sadly enough. It is one of those "WTF were they thinking?" type things. An air filter on the BACK, in front of the fan (intake) would be useful (but a bad idea anyway b/c it would never get cleaned), but the filter on the front of the EP4000 just filters the air before it goes back out to the room.

Behringer's business in the early days was centered around dust collection systems. It only made sense for them to continue this technology into amplifier manufacturing.

Just recovering from a free party I helped put on this weekend. I had deq this time and despite rta-ing in the garage :cop: the Otops sounded beautiful! The t30s weren't bad either! The other rig was a pretty large rig and I was worried that my rig would sound tiny when compared to theirs... I needn't have worried. Ran it flat out all night and it just ate it up. Sounded so sweet I am very happy... Thanks bill!
It almost didn't happen after our original site had the police at the gate from 8pm onward... They obviously must have got wind of what was about to occur :/ We changed location and didn't even see the police at the new site all night (& morning :) )
Ran digital signal into the deq through a standard 1.5m phono to xlr lead and no problems whatsoever. It didn't like a 3m lead, or running through a couple of connectors on a patch panel though. Annoyingly though I forgot to take any videos... Sorry :(

Are the 2512s in the OT12's excursion or thermally limited please?

The reason I ask is that I am (foolishly??) questioning the 35V limit on the Otops. To me, it seems that there is not a lot of cabinet loading going on with the Otops.. that horn is pretty short when compared to the tubas (although I guess it not as short when compared to the wavelength in their passband).

The 2512s are rated (thermally) for 250Wrms, so do you think I would be safe pushing them a lil' harder? I know that if I want more volume, the ideal situation is to build another pair of cabs, but I am not in an ideal situation ( :broke: ). The Piezos can take 30V each (=30V per 7 piezo element therefore 60V for the whole array), so they are not a worry.

They sounded like they had a whole lot more to give at the free party the other week, hence why I am asking this question. I am kind of expecting a "35V, it's in the plans :horse: " answer, but is there any give? If it IS only the thermal limit that I need to observe, I may push them a little harder (40V?) at the next party. It is in an inside location, so I will probably need that extra top once the subs are eating 50V (and no more   ) whilst corner loaded and v-plated (can't wait! :hyper: )

:feedback:

I must say though that the Otops are already outstanding. Huge sound from a tiny box. Kudos Bill.
