Thousands of WWII US GIs who were stationed in Oz were eternally grateful to the ANZACs... for having been shipped out to North Africa.
Rommel wasn't so happy about it, though.
My dad spend a minute in Australia in WWII. He liked it there. Of course, somewhere in the South Pacific he ended up with malaria.....didn't like that so much....

Wow! I hope mine look this good when I finally get to them.

I planned on building the melded and straight arrays with all Piezos. Do you like the CD better than the piezos? I see u said smoother above.

Despite there being a lot of them in a melded array, I didn't really get how there is still a little "harshness' in piezo's.
That only became apparent when I heard the CD version for the first time.
Together, they are somewhere in between.

The CD's cost more. They’re more difficult to build I feel, with the CD horn. That adds build time, complexity, cost.
If you're good with that, go for it.
The flat array can be put together pretty quickly I reckon, is cheap, and much easier build wise.

The great thing about the latest DR250 design is that the front module can be removed, allowing you to change out the HF section if you pre plan a bit, and change over the HF filter.
If going this way, I'd build the modules at the same time, but only load the flat one...

I really love my SLA Pros with piezos so I may not need the CD. I may build both modules like u said and try the piezo first.

I always thought the CD in my QSC or friends SRX were harsh compared to the SLA Pros. We will see!

Great build Grant - an entralling read & excellent dedication to the task.
Re ANZAC Day from a New Zealander's viewpoint, my Mum's Father chased Rommel there and back with the Desert Rats & according to his Army Records (which I got a copy of) got busted back to Private each time they got back into Maadi Camp in Cairo, Egypt.
I think the old boys had a sh.t of a time out there in the sand and Wadi's and the brights upon return obviously loomed large over everything.
My Dad's Father served in both WW1 and WW2 - a bugger for punishment obviously (or maybe it was for mates and a few cold beers!!)
Cheers Lad
 :loler:

Thanks for the kind words about the build!
And for sharing your story, I love hearing stories and history these days :)

A little extra to Bill's comment at the bottom of the last page.
Don't know if it's true or not, but I read something recently where I believe Rommel said something like:
"If I wanted Hell taken, I'd send in the Aussies, then get the Kiwi's in to keep it"...
