The good news is we know the amp will take less than an ohm without giving up the ghost.

Think how much fun it will be next time you take it out and get to run it the way you were planning. Hot running SLA and breakfast tacos, sounds pretty good to me!

Bruce Weldy wrote: Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:31 am Side note......seems like every time I have to mix on a powered system - someone has engaged the MIC button on the input instead of LINE. I guess because the MIC input is louder they think it's better.....but, it just distorts much quicker. Too many options in the hands of the un-educated is a bad thing. Did a show two nights ago where every monitor was switched to MIC. Another reason why I like an amp rack and not powered speakers for most applications.
Interesting you say this Bruce.
I'm gonna take the discussion to the "chat" thread though...

Bruce, you are a legend!

I haven't laughed so much in a thread ever before this one, yesterday and today. This post included. :roflmao: Absolutely epic group dynamics going on here.

You're a hell of a guy Bruce. When I grow up, I'll be lucky to have half the level of class and humility.

That is true.

Now the only downside is that the amp for the highs can only go as low as 1khz. Not a problem for a typical two-way box - but it would have been killer if it could handle 100hz and up, thus allowing the low amp to run a sub....(which was my intention in the beginning). And they only tell you this in the manual. Thank goodness that I had a passive crossover in the T24 and was able to pass the signal through there before hitting the SLA.

Well, it will certainly be nice to not have the sound of your show stop for 1 second intervals several times during the night.

And we found a new place for tacos.....but, it was closed today so we had to go to the old place.

Good news is that here in Texas - you can find breakfast tacos on danged near every corner all day long......and I mean soft tacos, not the Taco Bell stuff.

And a total +1 to this, too.

Good to share a few laughs in these tough times.
And you Bruce gave us plenty

I am glad you got to the root cause of the problem and now have your SLAs playing as they should. You certainly deserve a compliment for being fair and not bashing PE and their amp right away as many would have but rather questioning your own work first. My hat off to you, very well done sir :cowboy:

I appreciate the kind words, but I really did think this was a limiting problem with the amp first and foremost.

I really didn't question my crossover.....because after 40 years of marriage, I thought I knew how to follow instructions....

Am I right in reading this as a request to Bill for plans to be delivered from now on in podcast format? Female voice, shouting?

Nah......cuz after 40 years of marriage, I don't really listen to that format much any more. However, I will automatically nod my head and say, "yes, dear" every now and then.
