Clear plastic? What is this, the 90s?

Clear stuff these days looks dated and just a little tacky so if you were to do such a thing I'd only allow it if you were to load the thing up with many many LEDs set to pulse on beat. I mean if you're doing trash you may as well go all out.

For one I'd love to see it, purely because flashy lights amuse me so much.

Last night I attached Panel 13 and attached the drivers. I know the plans put attaching the drivers after the final side, but I wanted to do it first, and so far I'm glad I did. *knock on wood* So here's what happened.

Well, I stripped a hurricane nut on one of the bolts. Although, it wasn't that bad really, I can't see it being a problem. I put down a healthy bead of mostly latex caulk around where the driver sits, and that seemed to fill in any microscopic cracks I think. I don't predict any leak problems, knock on wood again. It took me an hour to install the drivers. Here's a macro shot of the stripped screw,and it turned out to be a beautiful, sharp image.



The second driver went much much smoother, no problems at all with this one.



I threw together something similar to a W jig to keep the angles straight.



I'll attach the final side Wednesday.

Retail electronic stores round here sell a spherical fourth order (maybe) bandpass subwoofer made from clear rigid plastic of some origin. Its only the size of a basketball for a 2.1 computer system but uber cool none the less.

Wow, almost done, and how long has this journey been?

Just about six months. I'm not done here yet. In the future I plan for some SLAs to replace the bazaar of different speakers in my room, and some SLA pros or OT12s for DJing, eventual T30s, and another dual TT once this one is allowed in my car. And maybe an AT for my old ported 8", just for fun.

I did grow up in the 90s...

I was actually thinking about rigging up some of that RGB LED strips from PE and putting it inside the horn mouth and driver area.

No progress tonight (attaching final side Wednesday), but I took some pictures. I took the almost-completed TT and heaved her in the back of the Forester. It pretty much speaks for itself.



It's massive! I definitely won't be easily able to conceal this with a hatch cover. So instead I'm thinking of ways to rig some sort of blanket or curtain, or heavily tinted windows. Thoughts?

Buy a 1970's rusty van with no windows, carpetted back. Trust me the chicks you don't creep out will love your box.

Seriously check for airleaks with a bright light. You'd be surprised what gets by.

Its a bohemoth! That just might impede your view, just abit. You can safely drive without rear view mirror on your windscreen, think trucks and vans. It takes some getting use to, provided your side mirrors are good you'll have no problems.

Come to think of it, you will be forced to drive much more carefully aiming for total awareness around you, all the time.

Do they have Tea Chests in the US? Old methods of storage, rather large timber boxes made from thin hardwood ply or masonite. With steel edges and corners, riddled with panel pins. They are very 'rustic' looking, raw timber with old company logo's stamped the size of a dinner plate on the side. They kind of resemble treasure chests.
You could dress down your cab to look like that, to deter would be thieves possibly? retrofitting the grills only of the cheapest and nastiest 6 x 9's to the top of the box is another method, after spraying it matt black, crack heads generally know their prospective merchandise and wouldn't bother stealing really crappy speakers.
On the flipside you could toy with your mates that its the two 6 X 9's that are making all the sound from your box

For the best in-vehicle response, rotate the cab so that the mouth is at the rear and pointing to the driver's (LH in N.A.) side.

First, don't take this the wrong way because you've put in the work and the build looks great, with that said, is an Autotuba not able to give you enough bass in a car that you need to have such a huge box in the back like that? For me that just wouldn't be practical and I love bass. It looks like you could have fit two autotubas side by side in there and still had perfect view out the back. I'm dying to know how its going to sound in there tho I'm not gonna lie! haha

Am I the only one concerned about what went on with that stripped bolt? It must have munted the nut.

BM, you're sure it's tightened down? I care less about the caulking job, a decent leak would push caulk out of the way I reckon.

The sheer size of it has to pique theiving arseholes' interest. Covering it up with a blanket doesn't really help that. Maybe some false signage on the vehicle? "Bob's Organic Compost" and a tarp over it?

Would it not be easier to attach an engine, four wheels and some sort of steering mechanism to the TT? Man, that thing will take the roof off...
