The DI should be OK. Where DIs don't work well is with commercial speakers that have a lot of coloration. In any event you're at the mercy of the guy at the FOH. It's best to do a sound check from out front where you can hear the PA to be sure he's not killing your sound.

From memory the sound guy had 23 individual mic feeds into the deck & did an excellent job.

Sounds best through good quality headcans.
