Wow, looking sharp and I like the BFM badges placement as well!

I wanted those badges on there for all to see.
I reckon it gets rid of a lot of nonsense when there's a "brand" on the cab.
Considering there's so many wannabe's out there, any name shuts most of them up.

And it's an opportunity for those consequently enlightened to push BFM...

edit: thanks Chris and Bassmonster...

What is with the purple and tweets here? Of course, who am I to talk? My Harley (not Dear) is painted "Passion Pearl", yes, its purple.

The color combination reminds me of my wife's tattoo - she has a dragon around her ankle, with pink belly and claws, and Cherry Blossoms scattered in and around. Takes a masculine tattoo and feminized it a bit. I see yours as the opposite - a traditionally feminine color on a cab with a very masculine grill.

What I'm trying to say is not only nice 'end result', but more importantly (for builders) very nice detailed build. Thanks for sharing.

Aaron

Before deciding to build these, I saw the sales page pic with the purple tweets and thought "yep, I like that". Not neccessarily the colour, just the idea of painting the tweets and making them something a little different from all the other cabs out there.
Anyone can have ordinary grille and foam boxes. And I understand the mystique about that.
I half thought about spraying the tweets gloss black. It still would have made them stand out, just not as much.
Although others have done it previously, it certainly has created a talking point for me when I've used them.
There was no particular thought though to make them purple however, it just seemed the best option from the available choices of colour in a store one day...

And the grille, well it's like it is for the very simple reason it cost less.
I never thought, man that's my masculine looking grille, gotta have that.

Cheers Aaron. I detailed the thread in order to encourage others to build them.
I kept it warts and all to show that even with mistakes, you can build them with little cab building experience, and get great results. It's a credit to Bill.
It's often said, build DR's if you can. I don't consider myself expert at all, and I managed to build them.
You just need the enough of, and the right tools.
It also reminds people that it's DIY, and that some things can be done "differently", like the module attachment method I used. Or have purple tweets lol

It's great to get compliments from other forum members...

This is an excellent build thread! I'll definitely use it as a reference when/if I build a pair of these.

The purple tweeter array is a nice touch, and it lets people know that it's not just another PA cab. It'll definitely spark up conversation. I don't think I'm going to put grilles on my OTop 12s because I want people to see that beautiful, curved horn--and I've considered painting the the styrofoam phase plug hemisphere something that will stand out.

Andre,
I wouldn't have a clue, never heard them.
Is it relevant discussion in this build thread? :?

That's very kind of you given your display of skills to date in your T60 build thread.
The oft used "build DR's if you have the skills" I saw an awful lot before I began my DR build left me with with some trepidation initially.
At least from this thread, you can catch some of the potential hiccup points.
These cabs present different challenges compared to the sub designs, but they are sooooo worth it.
I have no doubt you'll be fine with your DR280 builds, can't wait to see the build thread :hyper:

Does anybody have a link to a similar thread of the DR250's but with the ASD 1001 drivers?
thank you!

Andre,
Once again, that has no relevance to this thread, as this build was a build with the melded array.

Having said that, I don't think there is a build thread with ASD's based on the latest plans.

Well, I've talked about it for a long time, bought a couple of kits from Leland sans drivers ages ago, but time to start making sawdust on another pair as of today!

I'm finding once I get up towards around -5dB on my master faders, I'm starting to hear distortion, so I'm pushing my current pair to hard.
Time has come to take some pressure off the first pair.

This latest build will be Beta10a loaded with the CD horn.
I'm not going to include pics of the main build, but should be able to get some in of the CD horn and 2 pairs together.
I'm also going to need to modify my first pair to accept stacking brackets, shouldn't be too hard.

Since I'm editing, will also add foam to the back of the grilles on all 4 and go stealth with the contents from a visual perspective...

6 years dims the memory.

I can't remember for the life of me what I did back then, but I was almost flumoxed with the throat horn parts (step 1) lol.
Got over that.
Again, thank goodness for my mitre drop saw, made many things a snack.
I will use that saw a lot more on this build, compared to the previous pair...
