Outdoor gigs always sound better as long as you have enough power. I wish I could mix every show outside. Room reflections are a killer. With wide dispersion boxes like the Otops, sometimes they might be TOO wide for a narrow room. Do whatever you can to keep as much sound away from walls and other reflective surfaces. Crossfired or melded arrays throw REALLY wide, figure 120deg +. That's not always the right tool for some rooms. Proper coverage is just as important IMHO as the sound quality of a box. A great box can sound like crap if its used where it isn't a good fit coverage-wise.vlad335 wrote:I've come to the conclusion after today that I need to EQ this system better indoors. Maybe its placement, phase issues, I don't know but this system improved considerably without room boundries. I printed out David Perry's post on RTA and I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. Also maybe the mains need to go up higher as well. We were setup on a hill of sorts and maybe that had something to do with it?
