You may want to at least clearcoat them so they don't rust.

(Leans back in chair and sighs)......stunning clean looking build.....

Mike, they look superb. Interestingly enough the little PA cabs I have just got have the exact same method of holding the Grills in place. Its very neat and as you say make the front look super clean.....

Awesome........

WOW, those are some handsome cabs! Nice work.
It looks to me like you're using the combination 1/4"/speakon connectors, correct? How did you deal with connecting the wiring to the small lugs? I've been soldering spade connectors to them to make a larger surface to solder wire to. Just curious how everyone else does it. Why do they make them only that way??

You mean the NLJ2MD-V connector for printed circuit boards? They are being closed out if you believe the sales flyer.

Economics, market factors, etc. made this 2-pole Neutrik a poor choice for amps. Most amps use the 4-pole or greater speakon, which is attached to a PCB inside of the amplifier.

Evidently, demand is low for this in a spade lug version.

I've had very good luck using these NLJ2MD-V connectors on cabinets.

That's because they're intended for use on amp outputs, PCB mounted, so that the amp can be used with cabs that have either 1/4" or Speakon. When used in speakers chances are a PCB board is in there as well.

Hey, pile on the rabbit!

Those cabs are gorgeous. Period. Can someone explain to me how the grills are mounted? I see the tnuts on the sides of the cab. How do you bolt the grills down if the bolts are behind the grill?

Go back to the first page, bottom post. He used strips of wood as clamps, tightened from the exterior. What you see in the picture isn't the T-nut, it is the screw head.
Mike Roam wrote:Image

The grills are clamped in place by a 1"x1/2"x46" strip of wood (22" long for the DRs) on the inside edge of the cabinet sides. Tee nut and 1" allen head bolt about 10" apart (you can see a bolt in the picture). Loosten the bolts, place the grill in flush with the cabinet edge and tighten the bolts. Seems to be working well. No screws throughs through the grill gives a nice clean look and the clamping seems to keep them from vibrating. No rattles that I can hear.
