Grey is safe, neutral, goes with a lot of other color schemes, and I think it would look really good.
Nice, would l have to use a lighter undercoat for the grey? Would the grey be painted first, then the black?

Can't wait for you to fire the system up with these!
Yes mate, I'm also in anticipation of major midrange headroom!

Only benefits I can think of for the SLAP is the size and it's really easy to build. Other than that, it takes more amplifier to get to the same SPL, costs more, and doesn't stack as well.
Good points.. time to sell them l think.
Seth l managed to get a hold of a CVR D-2004, no more lugging 130lb of amplifiers around anymore!
Just thinking out loud, but you may be able to drizzle some epoxy or polyurethane resin in there to fill it, let cure, sand flush, prime, and coat with Duratex. Thicken if needed to keep it from seeping into/through the drilled holes, or just plug them with little wads of paper or whatever seem right for the job.

I read this back when you posted it. But, for whatever reason I didn't get around to replying before it escaped me altogether.

That's SO awesome! Not only class D, but four channels in a 1 rack space chassis. It's gotta be a great thing to be able to run a beast of a system with a DriveRack and amp out of a measly 2RU worth of rack space. Once you get a little time on the system, I'd be ver curious to hear your impression between the new amp and the old iron.

Initially l was thinking of a plastic or aluminium plate screwed down so the wire could be free to move if l had to remove the horn to replace a driver, now after your suggestions l'm wondering if I'll ever need to, as after looking at it, a driver can be replaced without removing the horn...
I'll look around for black hot glue.
Thank you for your responses gentlemen

Yes, very happy!
I built a pair of 800w class D amps & a power source into a 2RU DIY amp case to run the CDs, we'll see how it performs once all 8 cabs are done. So the CVR amp will run the 6 T48s and 16 mids.
I'll A/B the QSCs vs CVRs for you Seth, after that l'm
pretty sure the QSCs will stay in the cupboard for a while now, until l have somewhere they can be installed.

I found a pair of EGT-S1010s on ebay to finally complete an XF210 cab l built 10 years ago, wow what a difference proper guitar drivers made! Both my son & l remarked how much better it sounded
From the same seller l found a listing for 20x Generic 8" woofers rated at 25w for AU$100, it was worth the risk to make the TLAPs operational again. They weighed in at 700g, which is a 6lb weight difference per driver, l really didn't expect much as they looked pretty weak!

So they were installed and tested.. yep they sounded average.
Then auto EQ'd inside with the Driverack..
Holy shit, the difference was night & day, they sounded quite nice.. why did l wait this long to buy a DriveRack!!
I ran them for a couple of hours at a moderate level, with the occasional blast for 30 seconds or so, checking every few minutes with my hand on the lower drivers magnet.. no heat at all, they were cold. This confused me regarding their 25w thermal rating, is it the TLAPs design is that efficient? Does it not work that way?
Now the TLAPs are super easy to move around, very happy.

It is that efficient...
Awesome! it's amazing a humble driver can deliver these results.
A relief was added to protect the paint and give a reference line for when the CD horn is fitted. I wasn't thrilled to have to use acorn nuts & countersunk bolts, as screws from the outside of the cab into the horn (even when the tips were cut off), left marks and didn't feel strong enough.
Heavy felt was added to the buffers to also protect the paint, and allow easier adjustment twisting the cabs when stacked.

Is something like this a possible set up option?20250127_093830.jpg
I'm not sure what your goal would be, but just FYI... it's a little counter intuitive, in that side-by-side splayed will have a reduction in horizontal dispersion. Which can be used to your advantage if that's an effect you're wanting to achieve. But, it will be a disadvantage if you're thinking it will cover more left and right than a single column. Additionally, a tall column will have less vertical coverage which is useful in reducing the amount of energy directed it the ceiling and floor (indoors) and maximizing the energy delivered to the audience (indoors and outdoors).
Tall thin array = short and wide dispersion pattern
Short wide array = tall and thin dispersion pattern
