I completely agree with Bill. Use the panel you have and just put screws in, after you pull the panel and check that the panel brace is sufficiently secured. And even an 8x10 Ampeg wont produce the bottom frequencies a 4 string bass is capable of with any real authority. Pull back on the bass EQ, reduce the volume, or run the two cabs you built together. Any one of those options could solve your flatulence issue. A fourth option would be to build and use a T39 along with the J12. Which, once EQ'd properly, will reproduce the bottom end fundamentals with pant flapping authority that an 8x10 cab only has wet dreams of producing.
You built two J12L's, correct? What of the other one? Any buzzing in the other one? Any reason you're not using the two together?

I am forgetful of the basics. I had all tone controls halfway, but on the GK they are all boost, not unity.
