Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
The speaker in this case would face up, but that's OK, low frequencies will pass through the seat, and most of the output comes through the horn anyway.
Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
These are reasonably priced and would be more than enough for what you're planning. The DSP EQ/Crossover would be able to grow with the system if it ever came to upgrading and adding aftermarket amplifiers for the mids and highs. It's a new-ish brand on the market that has been garnering some respect in the car audio world over the past 5 or so years. I have one of their amplifiers, but do not have firsthand experience with either of these specific products.Scott Brochu wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:06 pm Now I got to get an amp and crossover.....any suggestions?

Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
Does this cabinet really need 400amps? IF I get this first amp with the crossovers built in would that suffice? this kid just wants a little low end and will be using his stock radio and speakers with this sub. He may upgrade his stock speakers but later down the road.

Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
It's 400 watts at 2 ohms. With an 8 ohm or 4 ohm driver, it's much less than that. That's about the right size power-wise....and it's pretty cheap.Scott Brochu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 6:36 am Does this cabinet really need 400amps? Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
Bruce nailed it. It'll likely be about right with a little buffer room with a 4Ω driver. Not sure which driver you plan to use, but it would be a really good match for the MCM driver.Scott Brochu wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 6:36 am Does this cabinet really need 400amps? A lot of amps have set, non-adjustable low pass filters and bass boost frequency. Which, I'm not really a fan of using. But, since the built in crossover in the amp I linked to above is variable and the bass boost frequency is variable too, yes you could use it without an external processor and get very decent results. Extra bonus that it also has a variable subsonic filter too. It's a nice little package at any price, let alone a measly $80.

Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
I've only ever used the MCM in the couple cabs I built that called for it and haven't been disappointed in the least. I have no problem recommending it.Scott Brochu wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:51 am Well after looking, which one would be the better?

Re: Truck Tuba Chevy Silverado
OK plans have changed, Daughter is no longer dating the boy
....thank god but is a story for another time...
I have just acquired an 05 Ford 150 Lariat and has 60-40 seats in the rear full extended cab. I will build this for that truck now.
Got a bit going on for the rest of the summer so will tackle in the winter months or late fall. I will document my build in the build threads so be looking.
Brings me back the old days of building.
