I wouldn't dismiss going higher out of hand. My 55" comes within 8 inches of my 8 foot ceiling. Sitting on my recliner or my reclining sofa the angle is perfect, and that's with only a moderate recline angle. As for the window it should be draped anyway.

I like my TV a little higher than usual, so, probably don't listen to me,
BUT, Is removing the legs off the bottom of the TV cabinet an option? That might give you just the room you need...

That being said, I like your stand ideal. I don't know if it would be very noticeable the difference of having the center above vs below the TV.
Do you have a small speaker you could use to test listen to the placement above the TV?

Above or below doesn't matter, or even somewhat to one side, which mine is. Being visually oriented creatures our eyes tell us where the sound is coming from, over-riding the audio directional cues. You would only locate it with your ears if your eyes were closed.

I did try placing a smaller speaker in the window and watched a movie with it (before I got the towers built) and it didn't take long at all for my brain to adjust. After a few minutes, if even that, my brain was no longer perceiving the sound coming from way up high.

BUT, Is removing the legs off the bottom of the TV cabinet an option? That might give you just the room you need...

My wife would remove MY legs if I did that.

No recliners or reclining sofas here. I want a recliner bad, but the WAF won't allow it. She thinks they're ugly chairs. I think that's the point. They're comfy, not pretty.

And yeah, we've yet to get window treatments for the basement windows, but that will happen at some point.

Finally got around to finishing the THTLP "storage bench!"

I do plan to do something about those black screws on the driver chamber cover, but for now they're fine.

Nice. But you need to lift the TLAH so that their middles are at or above head level, with the cabs tilting downward, not upward. I'd use French cleats on the walls.

Yeah they are a bit low. I doubt very seriously that the WAF would allow them to be wall-mounted. They do sound great when seated on the couch though.

SLA curved center channel in taking shape...

I plan to stain/paint it in the same two-tone black and stain as the towers so they match.

I found that using the tape method was easier to assemble and glue the baffle segments together than the method in the plans. I just used painters tape as "hinges" on the back side of the baffle segments, applied glue in the joints and then curved/clamped the whole thing in place. Was really easy and everything was perfectly aligned. I didn't have to use hot glue to hold the baffle in place when attaching it to the top.

I also elected to use 3/4" baffle segments so that I can recess the midbass drivers.

More progress!...

That's looking really good! Wow. Nice detail choice to use the thicker ply and inlay the drivers. Well done.

It's currently just about finished,but I'm waiting for a capacitor to ship from Parts-Express since I originally ordered the wrong one (stupid decimal placement) I'm impatient damnit! lol

I'm not sure I'm loving the sound though. It sounds hollow and kind of "clock radio" like. Going to do some testing with sine sweeps to figure out what mid bass frequencies are too hot. Not sure what I can do about them when I find them though.
