My conclusions are based on having actually tried it. It doesn't work, the load impedance being too high compared to the bulb resistance.
Resistance is futile.....

The bulb resistance curve characteristics are important in selecting a workable bulb. It's not difficult to find a bulb with a high enough hot filament resistance, but a juggle between voltage and current to find one that will start using significant power close to where you want the maximum output from the piezos.
If anyone is interested, I'll take some measurements and report back with an appropriate bulb type.
A quick search on the net produced this article for those that may want to read more about piezos:

Alright....we're going into full geek mode here......Picard was a Borg for a while.....remember Locutus?

Yea, and Data too; but, fortunately they both resisted and were saved by their faithful colleagues.

Resistance is futile below 1Ohm.

Resistance is futile below 1Ohm.
With one buddhist chanting, you get 1 ohmmmmmmm
With four buddhists chanting, you get 4 ohmmmmmms
Either way, there is no resistance.
